A defiant Steve Bannon declared the Trump presidency he had campaigned for was over as he vowed to carry on the fight after being ousted as the White House chief strategist.
Within hours of leaving his office, Mr Bannon was back at Breitbart, the right wing website he ran, presiding over the evening news conference.
In interviews he made it clear he was not going quietly as he rounded on those he held responsible for his departure.
The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over," he told the Weekly Standard, a right-wing newspaper We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency," he continued.
" But that presidency is over. Itll be something else. And therell be all kinds of fights, and therell be good days and bad days, but that presidency is over.
He added: I feel jacked up. Now Ive got my hands back on my weapons, he added as he vowed Bannon the barbarian would crush the opposition.
"Theres no doubt. I built a -----ng machine at Breitbart. And now Im about to go back, knowing what I know, and were about to rev that machine up. And rev it up we will do.
His loyalty to Donald Trump remained undimmed.
If theres any confusion out there, let me clear it up: Im leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents -- on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America, he told Bloomberg.
Earlier Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House press secretary said Mr Bannon, 63, had departed by mutual agreement.
...
Joel Pollack, Breitbart's editor at large, tweeted a one-word response to Mr Bannons departure: War.

They would not need to contrive a psyop street war and chaos if Democrats were comfortable. I would say for them do be doing this in such a sloppy easily traced to them maneuver that dems are in massive panic mode.
We have gotten impeachment stories over and over and all for something not impeachable. Just look at Trump in or with KKK hoods everywhere in the press if you want to see how calm dems are at the moment. Absolute hysteria.
But he ain't stupid, and I remain convinced that he's on America's side. I hope he takes care of himself.
We had the Senate when he made that nomination. It went no where.
Oh, so Scalia has come back to life then? There needs to be a DOJ or special prosecutor on this.
It is because RINOs didn't get the message. We need a strong outside advocate to take the battle to the RINOs home territory.
This is not a loss to enemy action. This is reorganization to suppress sedition in the ranks. GOPe has to be target one.
Populism isn't dead. Just look at the reaction to Mittens. They stirred up the snakes into a frenzy and then he stepped into the pit.
Another one bites the dust. The Tyrannosauri of the swamp are outing themselves one by one as collusionists and collaborationists with no foundations of principle or service to country.
Let's ride stirred up anti-fascism to a new wave of power - they thought - in a move that looks startlingly like Hitler and Goebbels. But trying to refight the old civil war stirred up instead danger of a new civil war along different lines - the people vs the deep state and their cronies.
What Trump needs to do is to have Sessions get about 5 investigators loyal to Trump to start going down a list of people in Congress, and other officials throughout the country. Start bringing people up on serious charges like treason, high crimes, sedition, etc. Then they might start to fall in line.
Unless Trump and people on the right or conservatives can squarely repudiate the onslaught of smearing them with this racist nazi umbrella then civil war 2 and or total capitulation on the right is what is coming quickly.
I have yet to hear people make the argument that just by using the language of the left the argument is lost. PC solutions demand no discussion just complete submission and total domination in every area of life. Conservatives need to make the case every day that neo-nazi groups along with BLM and Antifa are merely all hard left identity groups squabbling that do not get to project and smear their perceived opponents to manipulate society. The evidence is so overwhelming historically and currently that case can easily be made. But one must never use the language of the left as all of the GOP and conservative media seems to be.
Unfortunately I see the left winning big time and in 6 months to a year the most radical changes in our lifetimes will occur and not for the better. Hope I am wring.
That's ok, but I think Bannon could do us and himself a big favor through a well-advertised public offering. Then he is beholden to deliver to no-one except the base.
The tag line was on a date from a fellow FReepet
I neither like nor dislike Steve. Don’t know him. Have heard him on radio. Have watched him for about a year.
I voted for Trump. I watched him go to three and four states a day campaigning. DJT did that day after day. He carried this nation on his back. He told people the truth.
I don’t despise him. I don’t know the man.
I just know he liked to give people the impression he was the king of new media. That he was the expert at it. Once Sean was gone and Reince too I can see where he might decide that was his fit. That’s my speculation
I believe he had a meeting with Kelly and was told to toe the line. Too many constraints for a guy used to being in charge.
Time will tell
I duck often
And of course you are entirely correct.
But the democrats didn't know that would happen.
Heck, I bet most conservatives were just as surprised as Obama that McConnell stuck to his guns and kept Scalia's slot open.
And what makes it even more interesting is that 100% 0f the democrats and 90% of the republicans had no doubt whatsoever that Hillary would be elected president.
So before the election almost no one in Washington thought that it mattered when McConnell refused to allow a vote on Obama's nominee.
Why is that?
DACA, Still in Iran nuke deal, Embassy still not in Jerusalem, no Repeal of O'care, lets dippy judges stop him from enforcing immigration law, no money for wall, most of his closest staff are democrats.
Dang I can't think of a single reason, guess you are right.
I’ve always been of the opinion in recent years that 99 percent of the Republicans are useless because they put Corporatists first, the bankers, the elites and many just put on the conservative act for us folks back home.
I frankly think that includes people like Sessions who say they support the POTUS.
Republican after Republican came out on cue this week to demand changes at the White House and Bannon’s head is delivered.
The political machine seems to be running the show.
Well SCOTUS ruled to allow 90% of the travel ban with the rest to be decided later.
I mean, it's possible Breitbart was murdered, but I've seen absolutely no evidence to support the claim.
I believe Breitbart just got cut down by a health issue well before his time...
We may have had the senate but Obama had the pick.
I think he was murdered too.
That was a fake victory because they reserved the right to limit Presidential power concerning immigration later. The fact that the President knuckled under in the first place was a defeat. He should have refused to recognize their authority in the first place and force them to go to the supremes to order him to abide their decision.
Remember when Jeb let that old family court judge kill Terri Schiavo? He said the court has ruled I must comply. B$, he agreed with the killers.
SK should be NK. NK is North Korea
