The story may have been exaggerated in the retelling of it, but that one account corroborates that the tactic was in fact used.

The Colt .45, 1011 was built and designed to tear them apart,destroy parts and leave them todie. Don’t try to change history. There are pics where he tied Muslims to the front of cannons and fired them into eternity.
