In the new Civil War, Im with George as in George Washington. Its one thing to start dismantling monuments of Civil War generals. It would be another to go after the most famous founding father.
Washingtons name was raised Tuesday by President Trump. He wheeled on reporters and tried yet again to suggest an equivalence between the alt-right and alt-left at Charlottesville. Trump was getting his head handed to him when he noted that there were people there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue.
The president was referring to Robert E. Lee, hero of the Confederacy. Charlottesville had long since made its decision to remove its statue of Lee. It acted through its city council, the democratic way.
On Monday, though, protesters in Durham, N.C., took matters into their own hands. They slung a rope around the neck of the statue of a Confederate soldier and pulled it down.
So will George Washington now lose his status? the president asked on Tuesday. Are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson?
Its a good question no doubt the question for many Americans. Its not that the alt-left has already got its noose around statues of Washington, but the leftist-outrage industry does move fast.
Even in New York.
Mayor de Blasio tweeted Wednesday, New York City will conduct a 90-day review of all symbols of hate on city property.
Protesters have already swarmed the statue of Teddy Roosevelt at the Museum of Natural History. They reckon its a symbol of white supremacy.

It is a short step to a rewritten Constitution similar to those phonebook-sized atrocities cooked up in totalitarian dictatorships around the world.
Wasn’t Teddy Roosevelt one of the earliest progressives?
The Left is the true evil. How many lives have been exterminated because of Leftist ideology? Fascism is a product of the Left. Democrats in the South created segregation and Jim Crow. The KKK was manned by Democrats. Hitler borrowed from the Democrats in the South their ideology of racism. Nazi dogma against the Jews has writings that are word for word the writings of Democrat racists.
Can the statues of Malcom x in Manhattan and Oakland come down, too? how about art? on to that next? music? look out NY Philharmonic. And Broadway. Oh, and that bastillion of whiteness, Hollywood!
Yes, Teddy was an early “progressive”. He was also quite racist, sharing that with Woodrow Wilson, another early “progressive”.
Teddy was definitely a pro-American progressive, while Wilson was trending toward internationalism, but still mostly pro-American.
Today’s “progressives” are definitely *not* pro-American. They see America as an impediment to their globalist impulses.
You imagine that segregation was somehow just a southern thing. Wrong. Also, Margaret Sanger was no southerner, eugenics policies were adopted and enforced by the state far and wide with what little resistance there was at that time being southern, it was regarded as "progressive" at that time, you see.
Question: who was "progressive" in word and deed in that era, and what did it mean? You don't appear to quite understand just who was what, and just who advocated doing what to whom back then.
The eugenics evil as spread by Charles Davenport went far and wide in America. It had great appeal to such people as Margaret Sanger. It also had great appeal to Hitler.
Eugenics had appeal to politicians in America when they adopted the eugenics ideology to apply to American Indians and Blacks. It gave support to segregation in the south as freed slaves impacted the job market of southerners. Laws were passed to prevent ex-slaves from taking jobs away from white men. Blacks were demonized as inferior humans and this thinking influenced Southern Democrats who were in the middle of a serious economic situation after the Civil War. Politicians had to have a scapegoat for the economic woes in the south.
Southern whites blamed the slaves for taking all the jobs and the money. So, I look at the segregation of the blacks in the south as a reaction to horrible economic times with ideologies such as eugenics giving justification.
An that’s why i think for the first time since i’ve been on this site, that a civil war is possible.
deblasio is going to deem Columbus as hateful and change the name of columbus circle and take down his statues and i will be in prison when that happens because i will do all in my power to stop it.
Cant have ANY European celebration days.
I guess there goes the parade in Manhattan that the Italia President has been in!
This is bad
“Southern whites blamed the slaves for taking all the jobs and the money.”
Think. While it was absolutely not the fault of slaves, the establishment of the antebellum South used slave labor to their benefit and that slave labor undercut the value of all labor, even that of free whites in the south. The evil of slavery brutalized the slave and diminished the value of the free.
It is no different today when the establishment imports illegal labor and indentured H1-B labor for their benefit while driving down the wages of Americans as well as burdening Americans with higher taxes to pay for the welfare payments subsidizing this modern slavery. I don’t hate illegal alien Mexicans but I have to admit to a white hot hatred towards the establishment that brutalizes both Americans and Mexicans.
The time is coming for choosing; fight to live free or to die a slow death of hopelessness, impoverishment, and subjugation. What will you choose?
I’d sooner add Grant than remove Lee, though.
Lee in isolation IS asking for trouble.
H1B in its modern incarnation (it was intended to ease the process of getting another Werner Von Braun, NOT the plethora of Asian IT workers we have now) is the worst of a number of worlds.
I might be going into an interesting situation where I’ll be a project leader to a number of Indian H1B’s. I’m going to encourage them to consider where their true heart is, whether it’s in IT work in the Western world. And if it is with the West, by all means consider becoming a citizen of the USA. But if it’s with India, then consider learning what you can here and then taking it to India for a blessing back home. This line of thought was suggested to me by an article, shared to me on Facebook by an Indian colleague, that was about people complaining about Indian workers’ lack of mastery of English. It turns out that many of them were placed in pressure situations to earn what they can in the West and send it back home, rather than having their heart in it. And so, their English tends to be terrible; they don’t have an affinity for the West.

In the meantime, though, how would you suggest finding out what caste a person is. That seems a rather gauche question for egalitarian America. I think I’d look at how someone behaves. A noble minded Brahmin might be less trouble than an uppity Dalit, and it’s the principle that counts here.
