Sure; they had incredible success with the two elections of the Kenyan Pirate, and apparently assumed the victory was complete. The scales have fallen from enough peoples’ eyes to elect Trump and greatly reduce the impact of the left’s propagandists.

I agree. Next time around I expect to see Trump win by a wide margin.
