Waiting staff in the US rely heavily on their tips to make up for their low wages, but one server in Rockford, Illinois, was surprised to find the reason for the lack of a gratuity written on a receipt.
"Can't tip someone who doesn't love Jesus! Bad tatoo [sic]" wrote the customer, instead of a tip, for Samantha Heaton, who bears rainbow-coloured equality bars on her arm, and has been serving at Buffalo Wild Wings for a year.
"It was shocking. I couldn't help but feel hurt," Samantha told the BBC. "I would've openly discussed my tattoo with them, had they asked. I talked to them about their food. They kept me constantly busy, but were not openly rude to me. I've never had someone write anything like this."

No, TIP is an acronym for ‘to insure promptness’, that’s always been the historical thought. If a Jewish server was your waitress would you refuse to tip them too? Hindu server? This is just wrong to make it a religious thing to someone who, according to the story, did not serve them poorly.
A waitress getting stiffed on a tip in the US is worth a story to the British BBC? What, have the UK muzzies stopped raping little girls?
Hmmmm...
“Waiting staff in the US rely heavily on their tips to make up for their low wages, but one server in Rockford, Illinois, was surprised to find the reason for the lack of a gratuity written on a receipt.
“Can’t tip someone who doesn’t love Jesus! Bad tatoo [sic]” wrote the customer, instead of a tip, for Samantha Heaton, who bears Nazi swat swatstikas on her arm, and has been serving at Buffalo Wild Wings for a year.
“It was shocking. I couldn’t help but feel hurt,” Samantha told the BBC. “I would’ve openly discussed my tattoo with them, had they asked. I talked to them about their food. They kept me constantly busy, but were not openly rude to me. I’ve never had someone write anything like this.”
Her girlfriend on FB says “learn how to spell!”
And says, “Samantha is THEE most amazing person...”
Whatever. Sounds fake.
Don’t like no tip, regardless of reason, then get a different job. Better to be zero tipping. Love going to countries where there is no tipping.
“rainbow-coloured equality bars on her arm, and has been serving at Buffalo Wild Wings for a year.”
Cultural appropriation!
Yep. I remember when they actually used to be a news service.
Hoax.
"I would've openly discussed my tattoo with them"
Which is why you shove it in their face.

Voting with your wallet or pocket book is response. President Reagan said it best, “If you want more of something, subsidize it; if you want less of something, tax it.”
Sounds like this person just made an individual ‘tax’ decision. I see this act as no different than when a government taxes the population to force a social policy such as obamacare.
JoMa
Except those Christians who really believe what Scripture says
“rainbow-coloured equality bars”
So that’s what they’re called. How about “Dyke stripes” instead?
I see more and more of that type so I go places less and less.
Think about it, even if a customer truly felt that way, they would not be stupid enough to hand-write their sentiments on a receipt that can likely be traced back to them. Not with social media being what it is these days!
It’s a lie. First clue, the note is written in a different color ink from the rest of the receipt. The printing doesn’t come close to matching the signature.
Sigh. Another lib who thinks she is smarter than everybody else and she can pull this off.
People go to a restaurant for food and service.
NOT to discuss ones body art, sexual preference or cause du jour.
I worked in a sales setting, where those who had tats were told to keep them covered.
Not everybody is turned on by tats. Some are turned off...especially by a provocative one such as LGBTQ.
I disagree with these people...IF... they really did stiff her a tip in this manner.
BUT... When one makes their living by interacting with people on a social as well as service level, one cannot just openly push their stands in front of people.
She can wear long sleeves or bandaids to cover the tat.
She is free to display her body art.
Others are free not to patronize her or tip her.
I’ve finally gotten over the guilt aspect of not tipping and now will only tip in jurisdictions where the minimum wage for waiters is NOT artificially high due to left wing politicians. Specifically, Seattle at $15 - no more tipping. New York City and Los Angele, same. Texas - still low base wages, they get tips.
As to this case - if this broad felt the need to stick her politics in my face, she’d be out of luck with me, regardless of jurisdiction. She can wear sleeves if she wants a tip from me.
And the retraction comes weeks later and is usually very tiny.
With the boy, my rule is "Nothing Permanent when you live under my roof"...so no tattoos, piercings, ear grommets, or other foolishness like that.
Hair? Clothes? We'll discuss. So far, nothing too out of place (worst so far was Plaid shorts, camo shirt, blue sneakers, black socks...I asked, "Did you get dressed in the dark?" :-) ) I figure that hair will grow back and clothes - as long as he's appropriately dressed for the right occasion, no tie-dye-tshirts to church and so forth - can be changed.
