DONALD TRUMP IS bringing back jobs to the US at least thats what hes promising to do.
At a press conference at Trump Tower this evening, the US President said that he would cut down on regulations for construction projects like motorways, and aim to bring manufacturing jobs back from other countries namechecking Ireland.
You have to bring it back to this country, you cant do it in Ireland and all of these other places. You have to bring this work back to this country so that American workers can benefit.
(TWEET-AT-LINK)
Ireland has gathered unwanted attention from the EU and the US for the high number of multinationals located across the island (presumably to avail of our low corporate tax rate, but the companies say its for other reasons, like talented staff).
The income generated by companies like Merck and Apple led to Irelands GDP growth rate of 26% last year a misleadingly high figure which was dubbed as leprechaun economics by the international community.
Since his election, Trump has threatened to lower the USs corporate tax rate in an attempt to attract businesses to return home for manufacturing purposes.
When the UK leaves the EU, it could do the same, posing a real threat to the Irish economy, which relies on these multinationals for jobs, investment and tax contributions.
Trump made the remarks this evening along with some controversial remarks on Virginia - in response to reports that a number of CEOs had resigned from his business advisory panel after his lukewarm response to Charlottesville hate groups.
In a statement Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier said that as CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism.
But today Trump said that those who walked out did so out of embarrassment because they manufactured products abroad.
Tonight, Trump claimed hed been putting Frazier and other CEOs under pressure to move their operations back to the US.
In his election victory speech in November, Trump promised to fix infrastructure projects, and to create millions of jobs in doing so.
Were going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none. And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.
Tonight, Trump mirrored those comments: We will rebuild our country with American workers, American iron, American steel.
We used to have the greatest infrastructure anywhere in the world and now were like a third world country.
Were literally like a third world country.
He said the fact that he will bring in millions of jobs would be pouring back into the country very soon meant that things have become better since he became president.
Trump THIS is why I voted for you.
This is why I have supported you since before you even declared your candidacy.
This is the issue. You have talked a great game, on this, but thus far, no action.
Stop talking. Start acting. Bigtime. Ireland sure, but also Mexico, and China.
The entire world has been taking jobs away from America now for over the entire last generation.
Trump, start to act on this. For real.
So far no action? Is dope legal in Vietnam?
Does this mean Trump hates white people now? ;-)
Just Leprechauns.
So now Trump is lashing out at the Irish, too? Will his nationalist bigotry never stop? /S
More seriously, Ireland did very well by instituting a low tax regime to attract businesses. There’s always disadvantages to going offshore—accounting, trapped money—but make the differential something like 20% (IIRC, Ireland’s corporate tax rate is around 12%, while ours is in the 30’s), and your country will be the Pied Piper to oppressed corporations.
The commie is angry. Not enough free stuff.
I haven’t seen it.
You post a lot about various jobs in America. I am all for that, and thank you for informing everyone.
Jobs do happen. Overall however, we are not growing American employment, in my view. Both parties have been completely sold out, now for a very long time.
Trump won because he said the things a lot of us were thinking. He needs to ACT on those.
Trump, stand up for America. Stand up for working Americans.
We have had lots, and lots of examples of Americans selling out, jobs and property. What we need is for someone to work to bring back American jobs, American manufacturing, and American growth. To AMERICA.
We do not want to buy everything from China.
You were different.
At least, you seemed to be. Start standing up for America.
If only Trump were a dictator. Ice cream for all.
He could enforce your every wish and shove aside the anti-Trumpers able to block his trade solutions.
Best be grateful he has broken through here and there, while battling a silent coup.
I’m not saying Trump needs to be a dictator.
But he needs to be much more aggressive about this topic. BOTH PARTIES have been globalist (anti-American) for more than the entire last generation. Both parties.
Every Republican. Every democrat.
Everyone.
Trump sounded different.
Now we will find out, whether he really is.
I sure hope so.
So these tech companies are seriously arguing they had to move to Ireland in order to get enough Somalis?
Even the enemy media admits that Trump has brought more than a million jobs to America since January, but there you are, poo-pooing it. Oh, I’ll bet you can buy codeine over the counter.
I don't expect Trump to get any help from either party in congress on lowering the corporate tax rate.
Actually, that is just about the normal growth rate.
What I am talking about, is we have now such a huge structural bias with everything being imported now.
Everything. Go into any Walmart. In any town, in any state, throughout America.
Go into any Target. Any K-Mart. Go into any tool store. Go into any shop selling computers.
Go into any store, anywhere. Anywhere in America.
“MADE IN CHINA”.
Everything.
I know, there are still a small amount of things you can buy which are from America.
But not a lot, and that number is even now, constantly shrinking.
Trump sounded like he got that.
I have waited for a very long time, for someone to say the things he said.
Trump for the entire first part of your administration, you got bogged down on things which you were not elected to do.
(in my view)
You were however, elected to bring jobs back to America.
Not to continue the sell-out of our homeland, to a massive communist competitor.
So. Bring back jobs, to America.
“Just Leprechauns.”
Just making the shillelaghs Americans are to lazy to make.
Intel has a huge facility at Leixlip, this was a shot at the grandstanding Intel CEO who quit his advisory group.
Every time you post this nonsensical argument it it clear that you are either trying to draw some kind of distinction without a difference, or that you are bats#it crazy.

See for yourself. Note, those numbers are in the millions of dollars.
It seems like people such as you, are advocating for outsourcing every job in America.
(see, two can play that game)
Trump, was saying as a candidate, he would support bringing back jobs to the United States.
I say to him, Mr. President I supported you from very early. Because of this issue.
(and the wall, on the southern border)
You will see a lot of Americans in the public debate, advocate for ever more selling out of America. Those people, very frequently are the ones, who have sold out, and are now defending their actions (and their part of the establishment, which is sold out)
But you had the right idea, all along.
Bring the jobs back, to America.
In a statement Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier said that as CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism.
But today Trump said that those who walked out did so out of embarrassment because they manufactured products abroad.
...
My first thought was the mention of Ireland was a shot at the Merck CEO. Good. I like a president who fights.
I'm sure the Black CEO of Merck...Mr Fraiser....as a matter of “personnal conscience” of course.... will cut the price of Merck drugs for Americans in half to take a meaningful stand against intolerance and extremism to prove Trump wrong...../s
