In Sundays New York Times, Kristen Ghodsee paints a glowing picture of womens lives in the former Soviet Union. From full voting rights in 1917, liberalized divorce laws, high labor force participation and yes, reportedly better sex life was supposedly much better for women. Ghodsee writes, Although the Communists never fully reformed domestic patriarchy, Communist women enjoyed a degree of self-sufficiency that few Western women could have imagined.
Of course, full voting rights dont count for very much when there is always only one candidate allowed on the ballot.
But there is a more fundamental problem with Ghodsees argument. Totalitarian governments have gone to great lengths to indoctrinate children, and the biggest obstacles to that goal were parents. The way to overcome this problem was to take women away from their children by encouraging or forcing them into the work force. Making divorce easy also weakened the institution of the family.
As former Moscow Bureau Chief for the New York Time David Shipler discovered, during the 1920s and 1950s, the Soviet Union even experimented with raising children in communal childrens houses, dining halls, and other institutions that would decrease the importance of the individual household. During the war in Afghanistan in the 1980s, the Soviet government forcibly took tens of thousands of three- and four-year-old Afghanis to the USSR so that they would be raised away from their families. The hope was to later return them to Afghanistan, where they might form the core of a loyal government administration.
The former Soviet Union viewed children as the property of the state and they were actively encouraged to criticize, expose, and reform parents possessing insufficient revolutionary ideals.
But there are more subtle ways of achieving this without forcibly removing children from their homes. . . .

Kristen never read Hedrick Smith’s “The Russians.” By his account, the sex lives of Soviet women was as drab and awful as those shoddily built monolithic concrete apartment blocks they lived in.
Oh, he also mentioned that because free abortion was the preferred method of birth control in the USSR, many women would have multiple abortions. The result was damage to their sex organs to the extent that sexual intercourse no longer brought any pleasure.
So yeah, the USSR pretty much did for women’s sex the same thing it did to everything else. Ruined it.

Coming soon from the NYT. Stories on why women in arab countries are better off than those in America and how the Burka is liberating.
What is wrong with THAT?
Even the Muz, use available women as a recruiting tool.
The thing they don’t tell you...it never lasts.
The Israeli’s used it to get a Jordanian pilot to steal a Foxbat.
It didn’t last either.

The might get better sex. According to their doctrine, those who don’t deserve to get any get it anyway.
Yes, the high point of her film career!
I knew a woman from Russia. SHe would be considered quite fortunate - the wife of a respected Moscow scientist with a country home and a choice apartment in the city. She said she was a “slave.” Her husband could at any moment divorce her. If he did, she would automatically lose her prestigious job and custody of her child and any place to live. She would have to leave Moscow to try to find a place to live and work somewhere in the countryside with her penniless mother. So, she had to keep her husband happy in order to see her child and have food to eat and a place to live. (Hardly sounds like women’s liberation to me) Even though he hated her. Even though his mother lived with them and treated his wife like a slave. Even though every member of the family, including their teenage daughter, was entitled, via his authority, to order her around and humiliate her for sport. She did all cooking and cleaning while her family threw insults at her and demanded she work faster. This was in the 80’s and 90’s. I didn’t ask about her sex life but I knew she hated and feared her husband. Her 16 year old daughter had multiple abortions...so I suppose that’s a sign of sexual activity.
A Russian psychologist who moved to the US would later marvel, “How did I ever live like that? Every morning I poured vodka in a glass and kept drinking throughout the day...just to get through the day...” Subjugated people are not thought to be happy in life and many Soviets drank/smoked themselves to death just to get through the day. Oh how sexy!
I a absolutely hate this kind of propaganda “Oh how lucky they were to live oppressed lives!”
Because they don’t use withholding sex as a weapon!!!!
It is NOT because they’re communist.
It is because they are not feminazi’s.
Yeah, they had better sex while standing in line for toilet paper, standing in line for bread and standing in line for shoes on the rare occasions when there were actually shoes to buy. How stupid are these people? I guess that’s a rhetorical question qiven that they have long since left the realm of reality far, far behind.
Sure they are. That’s why there are hundreds of websites marketing Russian brides and they stay married for as long as it’s necessary to get their citizenship.
It’s so good they only need it once every other year.
How can you have any respect for a rag that will publish crap like this? Do they actually expect to be believed?
