The guns are locked and loaded, the F-16 fighter jets line up along the runway ready to scramble at a moments notice and the military, as their motto proudly proclaims, are Ready to fight tonight.
Yesterday, The Mail on Sunday became the first newspaper to visit both major military bases on Guam, the tiny Pacific island in the crosshairs of the growing crisis between North Korea and the US that could lead to the terrifying prospect of thermonuclear war.
In the latest round of a series of escalating and terrifying threats, North Korean tyrant Kim Jong Uns Stalinist regime has vowed to fire four ballistic missiles at the island.
As President Trump ratcheted up his bellicose rhetoric, promising fire and fury like the world has never seen, the 7,000 US military personnel on the island calmly prepared for battle.
We are constantly in a high state of readiness, said military spokesman Greg Kuntz. The systems are here, we are in place and we are ready to go.
The Mail on Sunday visited Naval Base Guam and Andersen Air Force Base on the US territory and vital strategic outpost, population 162,000, just 2,000 miles from the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, from where Jong Un has threatened to launch his weapons, possibly as early as next week, to create a historic enveloping fire around the tropical isle.....

And Russia. And China. Maybe India, U.K. and France.
Exactly what I was thinking.
These are America’s Air Force and Naval bases, not President Trump’s.
“If all the planes take off at once, the island could become unbalanced, and capsize.”
LOL. A friend suggested to me the other day that we should do this and keep the island tipped on edge — tipped so it is longways toward NK. It would be much harder for NK to hit that way and it would make the leftist crazies happy that the island tipped.
Win win.
Actually, if Dennis still has his sense of showmanship, he would think of this himself. And I'd have to give him props for doing so. Dennis, if you are listening ...
Filthy Limeys...
I don’t think Trump needs to act at all.
Fat Kimmy picks one of our strategic locations, Guam, that is located far enough south that a missile track couldn’t possibly be mistaken for a shot toward the U.S. No sense getting vaporized by accident, eh?
Then he threatens to launch not one but FOUR missiles toward the island. Why four? Because he can ratchet up the rhetoric sequentially, getting louder with each launch, all in hopes of getting the ($$$) goodies he so desperately needs. Also, each successive launch MIGHT be the real one, forcing Mr. Trump to consider a shoot-down.
Sounds to me like Kimmy is just screaming for someone to take him seriously and nobody will.
We’ll meet again.
Don’t know where,
don’t know when...
Hopefully, Guam won’t “tip over” from all the additional aircraft and men being deployed out there.
Guam forever!
My thanks to your Dad for his service.
Not worried about the Ruskies or the Chicoms. Its the Norks that are the problem...

Maybe it would behoove us to be at least a little....concerned. FatBoy is not operating in a vacuum. He has his friends and alliances, some of whom will feel obligated to come to his aid, even against the US if necessary.
Lots of Keyboard Kommandos seem to think a row with NK will be a walk in the park, we turn the whole country into glass, and all is “joy in Mudville” forevermore. Ain’t gonna happen, McGee.
The entire world is watching this develop, some with more interest and intensity than others. Don’t underestimate this fat little bastard. He may be a nut, but he’s a very cunning nut.
