Refuse to use google, much prefer duckduckgo

I like duckduckgo.com for their privacy .... but the search engine doesn't seem to pull up recent news articles or subjects.

Have you suggestions on how to better use the search engine?

I searched a simple literary-historical question and got nothing remotely like it, not even a link to the obvious literary work. And I do use DDG.
