Trump barrage stuns McConnell and his allies
The Hill ^ | August 12,2017 | BY ALEXANDER BOLTON

Sources close to McConnell say he is stunned by Trump's attacks, which have only increased in recent days, as an attack on a member of his own team.

Some in the Trump administration, however, think McConnell should have seen it coming.

A senior administration official expressed “100 percent agreement” with the president that McConnell has not done enough to advance his legislative agenda.

The source cited McConnell’s failure to pass healthcare reform and the record-slow pace in confirming his nominees to key executive branch positions.

Trump and his allies recognize he was elected to the White House despite the barrage of personal attacks from Hillary Clinton because voters want accomplishments that will change the status quo.

The administration delegated the repeal and replacement of ObamaCare to McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and they’re not getting the job done.

“People think Mitch maybe has lost a step,” said the source.

While McConnell argues he worked hard and exhausted every option to pass ObamaCare repeal legislation, the source pointed out that senators just left town for a four-week break from Washington.

The complaint among Trump allies is that while McConnell vowed to “burn the midnight oil” to get things accomplished in the majority, that hasn’t happened in practice, said the source.

McConnell had deftly avoided confrontations with Trump during last year’s presidential campaign, but he stepped on a landmine Monday when he said Trump “had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the Democratic process.”

Scott Jennings, a former senior political adviser to the Kentucky lawmaker, said McConnell was merely offering a “dispassionate, emotionless” view of “the reality of Washington, which is things happen more slowly than we would like.”

As for Obamacare “repeal”, I tend to think they are waiting for the higher 2018 PPACA premiums to be posted.

The 2018 silver plan deductibles will probably be much higher.

Medicaid reform probably should be separated out.

I so wish we could pass a law that says Congress critters must reside at their HOME STATE OFFICES 90% of the year...and only be in DC 10% of the time....or something like that.

“TAX CUTS”

I think tax cuts are out of the question while welfare state growth is out of control.

McConnell is guilty of being lazy and not doing his job. He needs to just take a retirement and simply get out of the way.

McConnell’s own campaign rhetoric was the same in setting up expectations...an example:

Agreed. There seems no remedy at this point. This is how violent overthrows are set in motion. Half of the American people hate Trump, but almost ALL of the American people loathe congress. Every once in a while, heads roll. Literally.

Mitch the Senate is a miserable failure in keeping his oath of office.

I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

God says he hates those that take a 'false' oath...Zechariah 8:16These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: 17And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

Mitch you got some Heavenly accounting ahead of you!!!!

“The “barrage” was in reaction to Senator McConnell’s own criticism - he struck first, and got reacted to. If McConnell had kept his mouth shut this wouldn’t be happening.”

Precisely. Mitch opened his mouth first in Kentucky.

They must have pure crap for brains if they didn’t see this coming. What idiots!

A president is not going to let Congress bums show him up. They are absolute fools.

I want affordable coverage options.

This might be say five days a year of hospitalization for EMTALA conditions with say:
1. a $2,000/deductible or
2. 50% co-insurance to $1,500 out-of-pocket
3. (and then 10% co-insurance to $3,000 total out-of-pocket)

I saw McConnell called out by Senator Ted Cruz on the Senate floor for nearly the same thing - sitting on his ass preening himself. McConnell and many other RINOs have been comfortable with their DECEPTION of voting Republicans - blaming Democrats - while they do NOTHING but enjoy the perks of their offices. Enough is ENOUGH. President Trump’s calling out McConnell should NOT be a surprise. McConnell’s latest “wake up” call should have been the election of President Trump. Talk about being out of touch!!!!!

I have said the politicos only have to freeze Trump out for 2 years and then it is a new ballgame. I did not just mean Democrats, but the entrenched political structure. This includes our RINOS. Stall, slow walk, will be the tactic until after 18 elections.
