Argentina has grounded all the fighter jets in its air force - meaning it is being defended by just a few dozen propeller fighters first built in the 1970s.
Thirty-five years after the country's military invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands, the economically beleaguered South American republic now has a worse air force than it did under dictator Leopoldo Galtieri in 1982.
It was confirmed that all of its Lockheed Martin A-4AR Skyhawk jets - which are adaptations of the 1956 fighters it used in the Falklands War - had been grounded as the air force's working hours are cut to five hours a day while staff are set to stop working on Mondays and Tuesday.
Its Mirage fighters - also used in the war - were retired two years ago.
First line of defence: The Argentinian FMA IA 58 Pucará propeller aircraft, of which the country is believed to have 32

Because its IA 63 Pampa jets have also been grounded, according to the UK Defence Journal, it leaves Argentina with just 32 FMA IA 58 Pucará propeller planes to act as its combat aircraft.

Socialism does have a purpose!
Give the Falklands to the U.S. Use it as a penal colony for MS-13 types. In 50 years give it back to Argentina. The 2k Brits can be given land to farm/fis in the Commonwealth country of their choice.
Good point. They can use mock-ups.

We had a chance to take it. It’s never veen brought up out but when Argentinia was still controlled by Spain and Argentina was known as “The Vice-Royalty of Argentina. The Brits had adandoned the place. Pirates were operating out of the main island preying on US Clipper ships during the California gold rush from east coast ports heading to California going round the cape from a town known as Puerto Soledad (today’s Port Stanley).
Yhe US navy with a bunch of Marines came down and ended those raids and burned the town down. Yhe Viceroy claimed he was unable to maintain control and offered the place to US. We turned it down and the Brits took it back.
...and the first production A4 started in 1952. (!)
