No, it is just kicking the can down the road.
It does nothing to prevent the NK from improving their missiles and nothing to prevent them from launching them against a US target. So it is not a win.
The good news in all of this is when the first shot is fired between China/DPRK and the US/ROK/Japan then the disastrous 3 decade long "Free Trade"(misnomer) with the Chinks goes out the window! This will be great news for the US economy as factories will HAVE TO BE repatriated to the USA.

If the Chinese want a war to prevent us from ending our destruction at the hands of this lunatic, its there choice and their consequences. I just worry about where we will be getting our junk from once we are forced to incinerate China too.
Yes we have the capability to shoot down those tests, but we also have the ability to assess in seconds the trajectory whereby we can determine where it’s going.
So knowing it’s a test why would we reveal tech we otherwise don’t need to.
By using it and other associated tech we would be revealing capabilities to China and Russia we might otherwise not need to.
Assuming that you,and others,are correct to believe that we (and the Japanese) are capable of doing so I wonder if it wouldn't be wise to do so...at least once...to send several messages to the Norks and the Chinese.
Of course Japan would have good reason to do so because they would want to send a message to the Norks seperate from ours.
And yes,tracking the trajectory would make sense for several reasons.
But imagine us (or Japan) shooting down one of his missiles with video proof provided to all major news outlets worldwide.The result would be amazing!

If we were dealing with an otherwise sane actor in NK I’d say yes. He would quickly read between the lines and stand down. But we’re dealing with a Godless psychopath who thinks he’s unstoppable.
We are going to have to take him, his top leadership and all is institutional memory out to solve this problem.
We know this. But if it can be done without revealing capabilities we’d rather not put on display unnecessarily.
After all that tech was built with a war with China or Russia in mind.
