There must be some mistake.

Why were "hookers and blow" left off the list?

Paper maps? Nobody would be able to use them today. “How do I zoom in? How do I tell it my destination? How do I figure out the distance to buy destination. This thing is SO BIG — how can I make it small again (i.e., cannot fold it up). Why are these circles for cities different sizes? Why are the roads different colors?”

This is a LOST Art of Manliness.

I tried without success to get my kids to use paper maps about ten years ago. Nothing but laughter, derision, and accusations of being an old geezer.

Missing:
1. Freeze dried food / MREs
2. Couple of cans of Sterno
3. Space blankets
4. Couple of tin cups
5. Water filter for getting drinking water from puddles, ponds or creeks
6. Solar charger for phone
7. Signal mirror (but you can always rip off one of the mirrors in your car for this duty)

“Swill Army” — recollections of your grunt days? Better than “Slop Army” I suppose.

It’s missing several things....

.45ACP handgun and spare ammo.

Latex Condoms.....you’d be surprised what you can do with them.

For winter....a bag of calcium salt.

Do not drink alcohol outside in the sun...

Oh my no. I was a melanin-challenged small town boy from northern Idaho, first trip to Hawaii courtesy of my Unca Sammy, out on the beach with - mirabile dictu! - a beer...or two... I was rescued by some very kind locals when I started to turn, er, pinkish...

I had to go back and read my posts. Darn, I did say Swill Army knife. Of course should have said Swiss.

The one I keep in the car is an odd one I picked up several years ago. It is made by Victorinox but is too large to keep in your pocket. It has almost regular sized needle nose pliers plus a complete set of sockets which fold into the knife but on the outside. The sockets fit onto a post which folds out of the knife. Of course they are not large ones.

It has about the same tools as a Leatherman or Gerber, actually even more but still has the red handles and is a knife with tools rather than a tool with blades.

Wire, for those times your exhaust system starts sagging, etc...

Zip ties just because...

Cannister of wet wipes

Up north I always used a hatchet for breaking ice ; always kept it within reach for busting hands if anyone tried to get into the truck, but it also would work to put deer, etc., out of their misery if they were struck by a car.

Teflon spray for frozen locks.

Coil of rope and corn or dried apples for stray livestock. Dried apples make a pretty good snack, too.

I got a keen insight into human nature one icy, slushy evening in Missouri.
Everyone was using a lot of windshield washer fluid. It was nearly white-out conditions.
I stopped at a gas station to buy more: $10.00 a bottle, or about ten times the Walmart price at the time.

A small tarp is handy, too, with about 8 feet of rope rolled up in it.

If you get stranded it can be used as a poncho, for shade, or it can also be used to move heavy objects out of the way with ease, like a sledge, on snow, pavement or dry grass, and takes up very little space. Also for laying under muddy feet. Could also improvise a stretcher.
Most of the time we used tarps for retrieving roadkilled deer... but it’d do for lifting an injured dog to take to a rescue as well. Don’t recommend ever moving injured people but there could be a situation where it has to be done.
