You are there. They have a library there. Take a pic of it.
It’s near a bridge.
You will know what I mean. :^)
Stormy here in Cabarrus tonite.
Yikes!
Don’t get any ideas!
Loaded Question. Probably 14 minimum.
I’ve planned on keeping the rented Yukon XL 4x4 from the trip to Carova Beach next week, for a few extra days to take family up there for the eclipse but am beginning to get concerned. We’re thinking day trip, about 4 hours each way from here, Asheville and then heading toward WCU and Cherokee, as far as we can get into the band of totality. I attended WCU, and actually think Cherokee would be interesting somewhere around Deep Gap Creek, but I’m beginning to wonder if we won’t end up being stuck on I-40 somewhere around Asheville. I’d leave Sunday and stay the night if I thought there were any accommodations to be found. Suspect there aren’t.
Rainbow Falls sounds dreamy. I’ll see if it makes sense to change plans.
Dredge up “Dirty Dancing” to see Lake Lure in a movie while you’re at it, lol. Another pretty lake near where you’re going would be Lake Toxaway. One of the inns there, The Greystone, has a restored antique wooden launch, the Miss Lucy, with a pretty good capacity for passengers, that’d be a heck of a viewing platform.

Asheville would not be my place to go.
Let me think.
Just try Kings Mountain and south.
Spartanburg and south will be booked.
A day in and out may be the best way.
I consider the sun in eclipse to be something like Medusa with snakes waving around.
I may take a peek at the reflection in my shield, like what’s-his-face.
It’s on the Horsepasture River, right beside Gorges State Park, not a big change of plans, just trading one set of waterfalls for another, from a state park to a national forest instead.
The Sun isn’t Medusa. You are dreaming of ManBearPig.
Well, that’s the quickest route to Jackson County and Qualla Boundary from here. We all know that territory very well so that was the plan. Might need to reconsider.
Okay you win. I could watch her sing for hours.
‘Bout damn time!
South Carolina is sold out.
I travel daily. Just get a day out of Charlotte.
It’s a late afternoon event. Go towards Great Falls to Liberty Hill and Camden. You will thank me later.
I’ll always play that. :^)
We’re very oriented toward wanting to be in the NC mountains for this, so we’ll just have to leave earlier, I guess. Cashiers, Highlands and Lake Glenville are in the path of totality, too, and we really love those places, but twisty two lane Highway 107 doesn’t hold much promise in a traffic jam.
Even if it’s raining, it’ll be dark.
Spooky.
Better in winter.
