A suspect in two unprovoked attacks on passengers riding on BART trains in the past week was arrested Monday morning, hours after police released surveillance photos of him, officials said.
Mario Christopher Washington, 42, was arrested just before 9 a.m. Monday near Ninth Street and Broadway in downtown Oakland, officials said.

On Thursday, just after 7:30 p.m., the man hit a victim sitting on the train between the San Leandro and Bay Fair stations with a pair of bolt cutters, then punched and kicked him before running from the train, according to BART police.
Witnesses told police the attack was unprovoked, and the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment for a laceration on his head, police said.
Two days later, police said, the same attacker was on a San Francisco-bound train pulling into Embarcadero Station about 7:30 p.m. when he approached a stranger and punched him in the face twice. The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
They were racists for releasing the pictures. Folks never would have guessed the race of the guy playing the knockout game without photos /sarcasm.
The guy is a wimp. Cheap shotted a guy twice in the head and didn’t even knock him out. Hit another guy with his burglary tool and didn’t take him down.
AB and the Mexican Mafia should make him someone’s punk pretty quickly in prison.

The 2000 U.S. Census counted 163,036 people with the surname Washington. Ninety percent of them were African-American, a far higher black percentage than for any other common name.
So, not to profile here, but the hard stats say if you are assaulted by a "Washington," there's a pretty good chance that he isn't a guy carrying white privilege.
Oakland must be some kind of sanctuary city for perps.

Before my time but I’ve heard of the Zebra Murders. That was not really a unique case at all. A similar racial murder case from that time frame here in Jacksonville, FL. It has been in the news lately because the perp here was one of the longest serving inmates on FL death row and now he is getting a new trial!

I’m thinkin’ about carrying on my next BART trip. Lots of disturbing things on the trains....many panhandlers (women carrying babies with signs asking for money) but a mix of students, men in suits and ties, tourists..etc. What is safe? Who is safe?
San Fran and Oakland have no intention of cleaning up the mess. After all, they are “Sanctuary Cities.”

Then there was the Symbionese Liberation Army (Patty Hearst), the Zodiac killings and a lot of other mayhem, not all racial but scary as hell. The Hell's Angels were on a rampage too, with many killings mostly drug related. But the Zebra murders were especially brutal and memorable -- they may have set a record for serial killings in California.
