The Trump administration notified the United Nations Friday that the U.S. intends to officially withdraw from the Paris climate accord, the Department of State announced.
Following the procedure laid out in the agreement, the United States will withdraw “as soon as it is eligible to do so.”
The earliest the U.S. can begin officially withdrawing from the accord is Nov. 4, 2019, under the terms of the Paris agreement. The notice to the UN is largely ceremonial, and the earliest a full withdrawal can be finalized is November 2020, one year after official proceedings have begun, The Hill reports.
President Donald Trump announced he would pull the country out of the agreement in a June 1 speech in the Rose Garden. Trump claimed the accord was “less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the United States.”

I completely agree. Having veto power at the Security Council table is a power we should continue to support as long as that worthless world body exists. However, the UN should be told that their abuses of diplomatic immunity is ending, or at least specifically limit that immunity. Foreign potentates/representatives can get a way with most anything and just leave New York with no penalty. Hardly fair to the citizens of the host nation.
WTF is with pulling out of the Paris Accord in 2020? It is not a Senate ratified treaty. Is there some international contractual law in effect when Obambi signed it? I don't understand why the US would have to wait that long, "officially". Anyone read the agreement and can explain why Trump can't just sign it away?
Its silly anyway because compliance is totally voluntary.
As I said above, I don't get why the US cannot just say bye-bye with the stroke of a pen. We all know it's not a Senate ratified treaty...what is it but a signature agreement by the muslim man-child, Obambi? No, I'm not going to find it and try to make sense of all the gobbly-gook. Anyone here know why it can't just be signed away or even ignored? What's with the "one year after official proceedings have begun"?
