Legislation to set up gun safety courses at Wisconsin public high schools is being blasted as inappropriate by state Democrats. Other opponents of the billincluding Madison psychotherapist Laurie Asplundsuggest that a gun safety course will only feed a gun culture at the schools. According to Fox 6, Rep. Ken Skowronski (R-Dist. 82) is one of the sponsors of the bill that would create the safety courses. Skowronski argues that opponents of gun safety courses have things backward. He says trap and target shooting teams are already popular, and increasingly so. In light of this, the gun safety courses are a way to be sure students know how to properly use firearms before undertaking these endeavors. Skowronksi said, Ensuring student safety for this rapidly growing sport was the incentive for this bill. Rep. Sondy Pope (D-Dist. 80) opposes the gun safety courses for high schoolers. She says the bill to create the course is bad because nothing in it prohibits students from hiding ammunition in their bags and loading their guns in the school. Pope did not address the fact that nothingincluding gun-free zone signageprevents students and other attackers from bringing guns to school for evil purposes now. Consider Virginia Tech (April 16, 2007), Sandy Hook (December 14, 2012). and Umpqua Community College (October 1. 2015). All were gun-free zones yet all witnessed high profile firearm-based attacks. Sixteen-year-old Georgia Pantzlaff put things into perspective when she testified before lawmakers, saying, Ive seen kids who dont know how to handle a gun, and thats when Im more scared. Kids dont get a chance to be around guns so they know how to treat a gun properly. Pantzlaff is a member of the Denmark High School trap shooting team.

The gear can get pricey. Especially if you are looking for a college/athletic scholarship.

Deer season has excused absences.
I took hunter safety in middle school there.
Don’t complain about gun accidents then.
I guess then that a gun safety course is totally inappropriate for my scout troop before the annual shooting fair in November
My high school had a gun club and an indoor shooting range.
Right with you my FRiend.
I started Shooting with my Dad and Brother when I was eight.
Also had a .410 Single Shot and a .22 Bolt Action (from Sears I think)...
My Brother and I shared a Room, and we had those two Guns as well as his 30.06, his Winchester Model 1892 and his collection of Ruger Pistols in our Closet along with a shitload of Ammunition.
To this day my Brother and I combined have killed one less Person than Ted Kennedy did using his Oldsmobile and four less than former SOS Hillary “The Butcheress of Benghazi” Clinton did due to her incompetence.
My mom and dad were on the same shooting team in high school. After the war ended my dad came home and married her.
My Brother took his .22 Rifle to Middle School when we lived in Long Island, NY. He was in the School Gun Club and they had a small Target Range in the School Basement as I recall.
Of course, that was back in 1959.
Don’t recall any panic when he walked to School carrying it.

No, Gun Safety is PERFECTLY appropriate for High Schoolers.
What is Inappropriate is lying to grade school kids about sexual confusion so that the perverts have easier access to molest YOUR children.
My fourteen year old grandson who is entering high school in a couple of weeks could teach a course on gun safety...off of the top of his head with no preparation.
Wisconsin Demonicrats are unsuitable for High Schoolers, or anywhere in the Milky Way galaxy for that matter.
But it’s OK to send them off to war the day after they graduate?
My brother and I would take our 22 rifles on the National Ave bus. Ride it out to the end of the route ( I think it was 124th street), Go rabbit hunting and ride the bus home at the end of the day.
Democrats believe the kids book: Heather has Two Mommies is appropriate. And having unlimited access to abortion providers is appropriate. But somehow learning to properly use and maintain a firearm is inappropriate.
DemocRats want people to be completely ignorant of guns because ignorant people are easier to scare into supporting the anti gun agenda.
When my wife took her carry permit class, a young man had convinced his girlfriend (who had never held a gun in her life) to take the class. When she got to the range and it was time to shoot, they gave her a .22 to shoot but she was so scared that she was literally crying. After she shot a few rounds she realize that it wasn’t as scary as she thought. When she was finished, she said, “That was fun!”
Another convert.
Firearms training is always inappropriate in the eyes of those who’d be on the receiving end of them due to their authoritarian aspirations...
Yet they want to teach kindergartners about sex between two women or two men or if you are a boy and want to be a girl or visa versa
Didn’t read the article but assume that attending the gun safety course is not required for graduation.
Skeet shooting is a popular HS sports activity in Texas. To get a hunting license you are required to complete a hunter education course if under a certain age. Why not teach it at school?
