WASHINGTON – The Republican Party should have done more to shut down the birther movement that Donald Trump led, one GOP senator said Sunday. “I wish that we, as a party, would have stood up, for example, when the birtherism thing was going along,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “A lot of people did stand up but not enough.” Long before he was a presidential candidate, Trump led an effort to discredit President Obama by doubting he was a US citizen. Obama was born in Hawaii.

This is a classic deflection and what this shows is that the man has no sense of timing or priorities. We have somewhat more pressing issues and can leave the Obama's citizenship issue to the historians.
I guess he is figuring out that he is losing on the issues and so hopes to throw dirt in our eyes by raising non-issues.
Good point. Hawaii could hardly dictate to embassy parents or parents of holiday makers who just happened to give birth while in Hawaii, what they could name their children. I guess the same applies to FOREIGN STUDENTS.
That ridiculous rule might only have applied to citizens.

You wanted cheap. Its pretty cheap to have the Health Department Director go to the birth record archives and look at the birth certificate and report back to the governor.
Did any rock solid conservative members of Congress ever get the Chair of any congressional committee to issue a congressional subpoena (which has the same force of law as a court order) for Obama’s birth records?
Obama used the birther movement as dupes to help him get elected and reelected. The issue worked to his advantage not his disadvantage. That’s my “problem.”

These documents received the most forensic scrutiny of any documents in history (a guess on my part).
They were FAKE, manipulated, forged, photo-shopped, layered, etc.

The only Obama birth certificate that has not been proved to be fake proves he was born in Kenya.
