Firestorm: Procter & Gamble ad portrays 'racist' America

WASHINGTON – A new video ad portraying America as a racist society, produced by consumer product giant Procter & Gamble, is being met with fierce criticism.

The ad, titled “The Talk,” depicts scenes of black mothers warning their children about the dangers of being black in America, how the system is stacked against them and why they should fear police.

Building on the company’s decade-old “My Black is Beautiful” campaign, the commercial begins with a black girl, from what appears to be the 1940s era, holding a white doll telling her mother that a woman at the store told her she was pretty for a black girl.

“That is not a compliment,” the mother responds. “You are beautiful, period. OK?”

The next scene depicts a young black boy running away from a group of white boys, which transitions into a mother’s explaining to her son why there is nothing he can do to stop whites from calling him the ‘N’-word.

“There are some people who think you don’t deserve the same privileges just because of what you look like,” another mother tells her son. “It’s not fair. It’s not.”

They get affirmative action, are a protected class and get most everything for free. How exactly is the deck stacked against them?

Remember when the Congressional Black Caucus walked through a Tea Party Gathering and lied about hearing the 'N' word? This is of the same stripe.

A large reward was offered for anyone who had heard the "N" word that day or had it on tape. There were reporters from CNN present walking with the Black Caucus - thousands of people with cell phones taking video but NOT ONE PERSON WAS ABLE TO COLLECT THE REWARD - BECAUSE MEMBERS OF THE BLACK CAUCUS WERE LYING.

I lived in the Jim Crow South when racism was real - AND THE RACISTS - THE KKK - THE WHITE CITIZENS COUNCIL WERE ALL DEMOCRATS.

BULL CONNER WAS A DEMOCRAT.

GEORGE WALLACE TO 'STOOD IN THE SCHOOL HOUSE DOOR' TO STOP BLACK CHILDREN WAS A DEMOCRAT.

Hollings who brought back the Confederate Battle Flag to South Carolina State Flag was a Democrat.

Robert Byrd - Head of the US Senate for many years and a KKK memberWAS A DEMOCRAT.

MLK was a Republican. So get real Procter & Gamble...or we will walk away from your company.

I never understood Unilever's corporate logo. Yeah, it's a collection of symbolic representations of their businesses, but it doesn't strike a chord with me.

I always liked the old P&G logo. Somewhat akin to classy steampunk, in my mind.

YMMV

Black woman knows she gets the best deal and delivery on furniture from Raymour and Flannigan while the dumb white couple next door have to wait to get their furniture and put some of it together themselves; black couple has homeowner’s insurance which covers their accident, ignorant white couple has the wrong insurance and get nothing for their problem; attractive black woman on the phone from PECO is mildly amused while trying to help dumb white man who’s so stupid he doesn’t even know where his water heater is locate it - lots of corporate money being spent these days on advertising to attract black customers - while denigrating whites, which seems to pay off in attracting blacks.......

Notice that most of the black people in commercials and other corporate PR efforts are light-skinned blacks.

“Liberal” bias and prejudice is ugly for whites and blacks.
