First thing I thought of. Mosques are ok but Jewish Synagogue’s are not.

As a result of terrorist threats, the Australian government has disallowed the building of a JEWISH SYNAGOGUE where it might attract terrorists.

While it was a stupid and wicked decision, this was not a decision of the Australian government. It was a decision made by a local council representing a part of suburban Sydney with less that 70,000 people. Unfortunately because it's a matter of local planning permission they have that power. The state government of New South Wales has a limited power to intervene in local government decisions, but the Australian government has none at all.
