Attorney General Jeff Sessions will hold a press conference announcing on-going leak investigations on Friday.
The investigations into various government leaks have "been in the works for some time," an official familiar with the matter told CBS News' Paula Reid.
It is expected that leaks related to the Manchester terror attack will be part of the Justice Department's investigation, as well as other leaks of sensitive information to the media.
Sessions recently faced criticism from President Trump for not being "tougher on the leaks from the intelligence agencies."
While it is atypical for the Department of Justice to announce investigations, the attorney general issued a statement in May hinting at potential leak investigations.
"These leaks cannot be tolerated and we will make every effort to put an end to it," Sessions' statement reads, referencing the Manchester terror attack leaks. "We have already initiated appropriate steps to address these rampant leaks that undermine our national security."

Unless there are four names attached to that statement, I don't believe it. Sessions makes low-energy Jeb look like the Roadrunner. Maybe Christie should have been the AG all along.
He may as well have. This has not served him well.
I'm willing to continue having faith in Trump due to one, obvious strategic policy: he must win in 2018. Winning in 2018 is so critical to any future success, that both houses must not only be retained, but elect MAGA adherents.
So, that being stated, everything, I mean **everything** is being put into play to swing the election. Now, when crafting a top level executive battle plan (consider how long D-Day was planned), we're typically dealing with years. In this case, 15 months.
Like any good entertainment, the final bombshell needs to drop 7-10 days before the vote. But, leading up to that, the drama must be allowed to unfold over 4-6 months.
This is my only thread of explanation. If it doesn't work out this way, or is truly dysfunctional, then I'll admit to be misguided. But, at some point, we have to believe that evil will be overcome.
The recorded history of mankind includes consistent periods of upheaval, as the same old tension arise between the corrupt who gain the reigns of power, and the deplorables who are pushed into a corner with no other option but to fight.
Be warned, though, that these guys are Democrats and talk about a lot of stuff that, frankly, probably has nothing to do with anything. I give GW his due for his Awan work, but pretty much everything else he has talked about that has supposedly been related info has been underwhelming, to say the least. Kind of like that Sessions presser ;)

Liz, I appreciate your efforts here. Since I know you have called them, what has the response been so far?
Well, he didn't specifically say it was on his watch... he was speaking historically of course. Let's see... there was Bradley Manning, Julius Rosenberg, Alger Hiss and Anna Chapman.
After a few more months of hard work and deep, deep investigating he'll come back and update us on other notable cases from the past to remind us how serious the US government really is about these things.
In other related news, it was reported that during Sessions' presentation someone leaked his secret Christmas 2018 shopping list on Facebook.
You are correct. The cry babies on this site are legion.
This announcement should have been made the day Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III took the oath of office. I still support him as AG, but the leakers have been unfettered for FAR too long!
He needs to be swift with indictments, fair trials, and public hangings.
He can fire both Sessions and Rosenstein and bring in Rachel Brand as Acting AG.

If she would hire a special counsel to investigate the Awans, Wasserman-Shultz, Clinton, Podesta, Comey, Lynch, McCabe and dozens more, then ...
Trump would be returning fire.
Brand could make a name for herself just by doing the job that needs to be done.
You are telling me that Trump is not allowed to fire Comey for any reason?
Really?
Are you telling me that Comey did not leak information to the MSM which is against FBI protocol?
Yes, the Obama cabal worked for years to get the goods on as many lawmakers as they could. It’s the ‘Chicago Way’.
Yeah, we pointed it out here before and in social media that the reason the GOP has no platform to speak of is that they fear being exposed and blackmailed.
Just left a message......no response required.
Any truth to the rumor that the White House got brand-new computers, network, and phone system while BHO was still there?
So you think this is about ‘making a name’? Silly man, Sessions is doing just fine, he just is not a showboat... running off at the mouth... as he plainly stated the Attorney General does NOT discuss on going investigations, period. You have NO flipping clue what is actually being investigated. But you sure do like to run your mouth bashing Sessions.
The Attorney Generals office has been drug through the liberal slime for 8 long years. The whole place needed a bottom up review to even see what was what, and who is who...
Jason Goodman was a political neophyte who gave $35 to Bernie, probably to keep from catching crap from his liberal NYC neighbors and community.
Jason can’t stand Hillary and wants to see her locked up. He voted for Trump and is a Trump supporter. You probably didn’t know that.
Webb is weird and wants to ‘like everybody’ and wishes ‘no harm’ to anyone. He hates the democrat criminal leadership but likes the democrat party of his father who was a union guy. He’s very respectful of Trump.
As both of them say often, their investigations are not about R or D, they are about right and wrong.
Just a note of thanks for the outbreaks of clarity.
There’s so much instant gratification goin’ on around here lately, I get the feeling I’m watching a brawl in a Montessori School sandbox.
...or just another episode of Rent-a-Trolls hijacking FR.

DesertRhino, if you missed the two hour Dobbs show last night there was one interview that was very interesting. I transcribed the bits I found very interesting:
Dobbs and Gregg Jarrett really came down hard on Sessions.
Gregg:
Part of the problem is, people don't realize that the AG, Jeff Sessions, not only recused himself from any Russian related issue but remember from his confirmation testimony he announced he would recuse himself with anything related to Hillary Clinton. So, that is a problem and that is why you need a SC.
Dobbs:
"Can he unrecuse himself? Can he roll the clock back on this, because I don't think, first of all, these were terrible decisions. I think the President is exactly right. They should have been discussed with the President. If he uh before being appointed, I think the President is again exactly right, if before he was appointed, he intended to recuse himself he should resign. But either way he should roll back the clock."
Gregg:
"When he raised his right hand in the Oval Office and took the oath standing next to the President, who expected his AG to serve fully and honestly, he (Sessions) already knew in his mind that he would recuse himself from the Russian investigation. He never told the President. That is an important material fact that he concealed from the President. No wonder that the Mr. Trump is angry about it."
_______________________________________________________________________
Gregg:
"Trump has several regrets. One of them is appointing Jeff Sessions the other is appointing, or allowing Jeff Sessions to appoint Rod Rosencranz (spelling intentional). Two enormous mistakes that have come back to haunt the President."
And people in Hell want ice water. Why don’t you contact DOJ to ask for the names? Maybe they can’t disclose them at this time or maybe they will release them shortly. Who knows? But I don’t doubt that four have been charged as Sessions said.
Do you know what the status is in the DOJ? DOJ is not supposed to disclose ongoing investigations. How quickly do you think these criminal investigations take? Comey disclosed the leak in May after he was fired. The FBI Trump collusion investigation began in July 2016 and we didn't find out about it until Comey disclosed it this year.
