If McMaster is still in place, I think it’s because he’s doing a good job, he’s doing what the president wants him to do.
Some people need to be fired. A lot of folks here seem to be making three assumptions:
1) The people who need to be fired (ex. McMaster) are keeping their jobs.
2) The people who are being fired (ex. Derek Harvey, Ezra Cohen-Watnick) should have been kept in place.
3) Trump is being bamboozled by wily underlings who are smarter than he is.
I would suggest that all three of these assumptions may be incorrect.
I would further note that the three seemed linked to me — either the 3 are all correct or the three are all wrong. I don’t see much chance that some of them are true and some are false.
Do you trust President Trump? I do.
Just because I vote for and support a politician doesn't mean that he's infallible and that he doesn't make bad choices in who to surround himself with. For instance, Reagan picked George Bush as his Vice-President in order to keep the liberal Rockefeller Republican wing of the party happy. We're seeing the same thing when President Trump selects party establishment-approved members of his cabinet.
