LINCOLN Female recruits for the Nebraska State Patrol were required to undergo medically unnecessary and sexually invasive medical examinations as part of their pre-employment evaluation, a state trooper alleged Tuesday in a federal lawsuit.
Trooper Brienne Splittgerber also alleged that leaders of the State Patrol, over almost three years, failed to adequately investigate the outrageous exams of female genitals done by a male Lincoln doctor, and then worked to cover up the matter.
Her lawsuit, filed by Omaha attorney Tom White, asks for unspecified damages for creating a hostile working environment for female recruits and causing emotional distress.
A spokesman for the State Patrol, reached late Tuesday afternoon, said the agency does not comment on lawsuits. But an email from a patrol lawyer, included as an exhibit in the lawsuit, said the exams were a hernia check required of both male and female recruits.

The child and father shouldn’t even be in the story. Much less a photo.
There are a fair number of ‘overzealous’ male doctors. Not sure about the female docs.
Hmmm.
Was a (female) nurse present during this check?
she has been there for that long, and now sues!!!
Give me a break. She looks for an easy payout.
So we can assume from this that you didn’t really read the article.
She complained right after it happened. Since then the complaint has been going through ‘channels’.
Splittgerber, according to the lawsuit, grew increasingly anxious about the inaction by patrol superiors to her complaints in late 2014. In February 2017, she asked Rice about the status of the investigation.
She said she didnt get a response until she informed him that she had retained an attorney.
At that point, it became clear the plaintiffs concerns were being dismissed and the events covered up, the lawsuit stated.
I’ve had female docs and PAs do my physicals ... I never got the impression they found it any more thrilling than I did.
The doctor grew suspicious when there wasn’t a nutsack to squeeze.
Women don’t have testicles that descend and cause hernias. Women get abdominal or femoral hernias. Neither of those require examination of the genitalia.
A femoral hernia will appear as a bulge near the groin or thigh
Ah, did she bail on them? (guessing so because of other comments)
Hmmm, well look what other news they have!
Hip-hop legends will headline free New Generation Music Festival at Aksarben Village
good gosh
When I went to nursing school, the paperwork for the physical included a gynecological exam. I crossed it off and noted that those parts were never, ever going to be relevant to nursing work. Never heard a peep from the school.
Easier to do that when you’re having your own physician fill out the paperwork and you aren’t taken by surprise by a request to disrobe...
Women are much less likely to have an inguinal hernia than men, and a hernia exam would not require complete exposure in a woman, so that excuse ain’t gonna fly.
Our Governor just fired the head of the State Patrol and other SP officials here for other abuses. I imagine this might have been on the list.
Seems they were applying some good ol’ boy politics to a lot of things and not investigating themselves the way they should have.
Rickets got involved and just canned several of them.
Too bad our State Patrol has rotted up so badly. It used to be a very clean organization.
I am pretty sure Rickets will get it cleaned up but there are some messes that will get aired in the mean time I am sure.
“Physically invasive” must have come from a FOCUS GROUP. If anyone has ever had a BASIC physical examination for insurance purposes - key man insurance - or military of personal healthcare knows that everything is checked. It may be embarrassing but hardly “invasive”.
Well, Doesn’t that Stink!
I don't care who you are, that right there is funnnny!
Ozark was great. The club owner’s corvette license plate was the same too. Did you finish the series?
If we the people can be strip searched and fondled to fly on an airplane she can be strip search and fondled for a job as a cop.
Yep... Every woman should have their prostate checked also.
They should be more concerned with other physical characteristics, like the ability to fight on a dark, lonely highway, the sorts of things women don’t normally excel in.
I’ve had no problem with female docs. I’ve had some - how should I say it - unusual experiences with a couple of male ones. And I have heard from girlfriends about their unusual experiences as well.
