But the bees were all dying. We were going to follow. This doesn't fit the Al Gore scenario.

It just confirms it was a natural cause, not man made. Another conspiracy theory goes *poof*.

It’s varroa which is killing colonies but there have been methods introduced to keep varroa under control. However, the neonics do complicate matters and weaken colonies making them more susceptible to the mites.

As for honey, there is very little real honey available as most of it is cut with HFCS or Chinese or Canadian honey. Even more honey out there is simply made by bees who consume sugar water or HFCS.

If you want real honey, take it from your own hive.

Wonderful news. How about the brown bats? They need to have a comeback too.

Have been a beekeeper for 14 years now, and do farmer’s market now and then. Currently 7 hives.

Honey from small guys like me is raw honey made from nectar, not HFCS. HFCS *IS* used when starting a hive, as the initial bee package comes with a can of it for their use during transport. After that, small beekeeper’s hives produce the real stuff. I’ll note that during the spring when there are no or few nectar sources, we feed sugar water (using table sugar) and in the fall to prepare for winter as well. However, when feeding sugar-water, it is *WITHOUT* the honey collection boxes (honey “supers”) on the hive.

That's right.

I think that we were all supposed to have starved to death by now.

Maybe not, but I remember a few years ago, either the bees dying off or the oceans rising or some other climate crisis was going to do us all in.

I know it was cereal.

You are ignorant

The decline in bee colonies was precipitous. The problem was real.

The true real concern was the possible reduction in food crops being pollenated, not so much lack of honey.

So this is huge news.
