WASHINGTON White House senior adviser Stephen Miller battled reporters from The New York Times and CNN during Wednesdays press briefing taking the reins from President Trump on the war on fake news.
Miller was at the briefing in support of the Raise Act, a Senate bill that would cut immigration by half over ten years and represent the most significant immigration reform in over half a century. The bill, which is sponsored by Republican senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue, would accomplish this by implementing a merit-based immigration system and largely ending the current practice of immigrants bringing over large amounts of family members.
New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush and CNN reporter Jim Acosta both were skeptical about the bill at the White House press briefing. Millers exchange with Acosta was the most fiery, with the White House adviser telling Acosta that his cosmopolitan bias is being exposed to a shocking degree.
Acosta had asked whether the legislation is in accord with the 1883 poem on the Statue of Liberty that states, give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.
It doesnt say anything about speaking English or being able to be a computer programmer, Acosta said. Arent you trying to change what it means to be an immigrant coming into this country if youre telling them, you have to speak English when they get here?
Miller pointed out that American citizens need to be able to speak English and added, so the notion that speaking English wouldnt be a part of immigration systems would be very ahistorical.

Wow. Just saw it on Tucker.
Miller is a very smart junk yard dog.
He ate Acosta’s lunch and then some.
I saw it too! Awesome!
Worth watching! I’ve seen it 3 times now and it’s still entertaining!
I despise how Acosta filibustered the entire exchange. Annoying as hell.
I like Miller.
I think with Miller full time many of these MSM stooges would STFU. Even they would get tired of having their a$$es handed to them every time they opened their mouths.
Maybe well make a carve-out in the bill that says The New York Times can hire all the less skilled, low paid workers from other countries and see how you feel about low wage substitution.
Not a Bad Idea, say a $10,ooo Tax credit per reporter and you only have to pay them half of what you pay now.
I bet they would take the offer!!
“Acosta had asked whether the legislation is in accord with the 1883 poem on the Statue of Liberty that states, ‘give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.’”
And I guess Acosta doesn’t know that that the Emma Lazarus poem was placed on the Statue of Liberty without permission, it isn’t legitimate, and never was authorized by the government. He’s an idiot. I hate people who drag out this old poem as if it were gospel, when it’s nothing.
I get sick of Leftists using an inscription on a plaque on a statue as somehow holding some weight of law
My wife and son were just in Nepal. My son was telling me a story about a good samaritan helping them fix a bike they had rented. He was recounting the conversation and I said, "Wait a minute, how were you talking to the guy?" and my son said, "Everyone in Nepal seems to speak English."
Sheesh!
The Statue Of Liberty was erected in 1886.
Emma Lararus’s poem was added in 1903.
Not to mention THEY don’t want to foot the bill for all their empathy.
See also the recent video posted of a reporter listening to French citizens spouting cliches about welcoming refugeees. When presented with an actual refugee to house, clothe and feed they all came up with one lame excuse after another.
The most annoying thing, as usual, is that the left refuse to concede that their entire motivation is wholesale importation of votes. Recent elections prove they are running on the fumes of opposition to the very capitalist system that they secretly know was responsible for their own standard of living. We keep hearing their media cheerleaders make brave noises about ‘abandoning’ certain demographic segments but the reality is those voters left them first.
In sum, they’ve pissed everybody off except bizarre islands of freaks and need warm bodies to cast mindless votes.
I fully agree with following the inscription on the Statue of Liberty on the condition that we return to 1883 immigrant processing methods.
Acosta does not want an honest answer.
He just wants video of himself asking the questions, so CNN
will play it over and again attempting to do his policy as a racist
policy.
So where’s the video? And why do I have to search for it? Again?
Trumps policy.
