Top health insurance companies in numerous states are looking to hike premiums by double-digits some by roughly 30 percent or more for ObamaCare plans in 2018, according to newly released figures that could light a fire under stalled efforts on Capitol Hill to fix the program.
A lot of us have lost focus on the fact that the system we have doesnt work, White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told Fox & Friends on Wednesday, referring to the proposed premium hikes.
The Wall Street Journal reported that major insurers in Idaho, West Virginia, South Carolina, Iowa and Wyoming are pitching premium hikes averaging 30 percent or higher.
Other states also could see double-digit hikes, including New Mexico, Tennessee and Texas while elsewhere, insurers are eyeing smaller increases.
The requests are preliminary and could change before insurers strike 2018 agreements with federal officials in the fall.

That was the plan all along......Then in comes single-payer to "Save the Day".
That is 144 Trillion dollars for the entire nation. How can that possibly be?
Exchange or buying direct from BCBS or any other the price is all the same. Any discussion about the exchange vs. “private” insurance is smoke and mirrors and just misinformed.
If you are on the dole you go through the exchange.
If you are a paying person you can go to the exchange or direct to the insurer.
Most people don’t know about this because most people are freeloading off of me and other payers. Enjoy what I can’t afford to use axxholes.
About the same here if not closer to an increase of 100% since this nightmare began.
This year I’ll be lucky if the increase does not boost the rate to more than 120% of the pre-axxhole care amount.
Increases before barky care were a “mere” 8% or so a year. I thought that was bad. I was only able to manage the cost by increasing the deductible but I never got anywhere near what it is now.
In 2000 the rate was $4,428 a year for three of us! In 2016 it was $20,254 for two.
Like most taxes there is no compensation for inflation. The subsidy limit stands at 400% of the poverty level while the cost of insurance has almost doubled in three years. By all rights, of which there are none, the subsidy level should have gone up by 100% to 800% of the poverty level.
You must not pay for yours. If you did you would not be so casual about it.
The insurance product may be the same, but many doctors don’t like it because they have a better chance of getting stiffed by exchange patients.
I’ve worked hard my whole life. 30 years medical transcription business and lost 90% in the last year. Husband’s corporation decided to charge spouses full price for health insurance couple of years back, so found my own, which with losing accounts and the prices escalating, we were then unable to afford. Husband has excellent coverage and I have none. Don’t think I’m overreacting to what’s been done to some of us.
If you are old it is great. If the cost of the bronze plan is more than 8% of your gross income, you don’t have to pay a penalty if you don’t have health insurance.
Are you a Christian?
If I didn’t have it, I would use this:

Or this:

Or this:
That is a lose cannon.
Have you read the terms?
There is absolutely no assurance they will pay your claims.
It looks as much like rationing as you can get to and what is more, with some you are left to attempt to negotiate your rate for medical care to a level suitable to the .org.
I may be missing something but I don’t think so.
I have friends on it, and their bills were paid.
I have not heard of people who did not have their bills paid, but the payments come directly from other Christians, rather than a company.
Christian, yes, definitely. Smoker, yes, definitely, so Christian insurance not an alternative. Never said I was in support of Obamacare. I know the medical field and know how doctors offices have been destroyed. Just pointing out that people are not overreacting.
You definitely got hit hard. And the irony is we’re both counted as beneficiaries of the “Affordable Care Act.”
And isn’t insult to injury that we’re subsidizing Congress’ health plans?
That is good to know and thank you both for your information.
I am tempted to try this but have been ver skeptical as you can tell.
One wonders how they can do what they do for what seems to be about half the cost of insurance. Actually, it puts things back to about the price they once were. Hard to believe we are paying double the insurance rates for this social engineering and wealth transfer scam
Thanks again.
