A recent poll suggests one in three California residents would support a possible secession from the U.S. because of their opposition to President Donald Trump.
"There's such hostility towards Trump that many citizens believe it would be smarter to leave than fight," Democratic political strategist Steve Maviglio told Reuters.
A Reuters survey revealed that 32 percent support the so-called Calexit, an increase of 12 percent since the last poll was conducted in 2014.

Mexico would treat California, like the Nazis treated the Sudetenland.
>>Or put another way 66% oppose Cal-Exit...
Exactly. And that 66% should be pushing to have northern CA admitted to the Union as the 51st State. I’ve heard those in favor of this are already proposing the name “Jefferson” for their new State.
When you factor out the wetbacks it becomes 50%.
I was born in Hollywood. Wife in Los Angeles. We are in our seventies. Our lives are invested here in California. We live, worked, retired here, and our intent is to stay until death do we part. California is a lovely State, and we will defend California to our last breath as a State of the Union.
My question that remains, is that why are the liberals not screaming that the war is lost, and to pull out our troops?
Just get rid of the San FranSUCKo Bay Area and Los Angeles County and CA might actually become a state again, unlike what it is now, a cesspool for liberalism and Communism(Trust me I live here the media, universities, unions, la raza, they run this state, all liberal loons
You should come visit LA, it IS Mexico
Democrats would lose an easy fifty-five electoral votes.
Democrats would lose two of the worst Senators in the U.S. Senate.
Democrats would lose a bunch of House seats.
The United States would lose millions of illegal aliens.
The United States would become nearly 70% white again overnight.
It'll never happen, but I'd love to see California leave. If by some miracle they get 50%+1 to vote for this, President Trump should pull a reverse Lincoln and say he supports their right to self-determination.
I suspect though, most of the ultimately small percentage of pro-secession votes this referendum will receive will be ironic, i.e., voting for it only because they know it will not pass.
Let’s support secession of the Red Counties in California for the new State of Jefferson then the disgusting liberal counties can sink without the parts of the state that work.
I like the way you think....
They would be wiped out financially; and, crime would make Cali the new mexico.
Property values? Ha!
Calif = 55 Electoral Votes.
Goodbye to that means HELLO to the Dems having to completely WINNING logic-centered debates for 20 years or more:
HOW LIKELY IS THAT..?
This is a pipe dream and the forces making this impossible are ALL outside of California.
Funny, I am working on my own ‘Calexit’ plan...
Want to bet if they try , Mexico will steal California right out from under them ,LOL
Ok, go to war with and destroy the CaliCom rebels. Put the state under reconstruction for the next 25 years.
Exactly!
I am a born and raised Los Angelino..it would be nice for ONCE to be able to walk down the street with a Trump t-shirt and not be afraid of being beaten to death. It would be nice to actually be able to say here in LA “Im a Conservative” without being spit on..it would be nice to watch the local news and not see them roll their eyes whenever they say President Trump’s name..You get rid of the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County and you have a Republican state
Welcome to FR
I support Calexit too—but only on a county-by-county basis.
“Ok. One in three residents. What about citizens?”
This isn’t likely to happen. Maybe at the end of the day we could partition off Everything from The Angeles Crest to the Mexican Border and call it Calexico, but as Victor Davis Hanson said this evening on Tucker, land area-wise, California is a RED state. And just think, if that were done, Hollywood would be in a foreign country.
