I'm a bit surprised, and quite disappointed, that so many others did not pick up on this obvious intention. It's clear from the rest of the article that Charlie can write with standard English, but in the line which refers to 'hicks' he uses the wrong pronoun and no one finds that relevant? No one thinks it might be deliberate for emphasis?

First of all, to rktman:

Excellent article from Charlie Daniels, good find.

And I should add, plenty in the traditional Dem strongholds (I.e. not in the flyover country) are becoming ‘us hicks’. Quite a few Blacks’ eyes are opened by Trump pointing out their continued betrayal. And that is crucial, once their eyes are opened, not only they are unlikely back on the plantation, they will be actively converting their own circle about the fact.

As to the ‘hick grammar’,
plenty of us deem it not worthy to point out such obvious point to the grammar police. It distract the real discussion of Daniels’ real meat in the article.
