There are rumblings Attorney General Sessions will take a lateral move
We received word on this at Gateway Pundit earlier today.
As hot Beltway rumors go, this one is extra spicy, but doesnt appear to have very much meat on the bone. It started with an anonymously sourced story from Politico which claimed department staffers were suggesting that Jeff Sessions might be moved over from the Attorney General slot to replace departing General John Kelly at Homeland Security. Given all the scrutiny Sessions has been under, paired with conservative pushback against the idea of his being fired, its easy to see how this might look tempting to President Trump at least in theory. Fox News runs down the potential scenario which could play out.
Could Attorney General Jeff Sessions end up at the Department of Homeland Security?
Its an idea some political observers have been debating after President Trump announced Friday that John Kelly, who leads the department, would replace Reince Priebus as White House chief of staff
Dana Perino, the former White House press secretary under George W. Bush, argued such an arrangement could placate conservatives who would be outraged if Sessions was ousted from the administration.
Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed his disapproval over the idea that Sessions may move to the DHS in a series of tweets. In his first tweet he said, AG Jeff Sessions has a good ring to it. Highly qualified, committed to the rule of law, tough on crime, and fiercely independent.

Fake News?
With all respect, FR posted this story Friday night.
As usual, FR had it first, and many in DC read FR.
“Rumors” don’t cut it.
Didn’t see it, but haven’t been paying that much attention this weekend. Maybe one of those snowballs rolling down the hill that turns into nothing.
Talk about the kiss of death...having Linda Graham give Sessions his endorsement.
It’s not really a lateral either. DHS is a significant step down from AG. Doubt Sessions would willingly take it. He’s in his first choice job.
Fake news. Without sourcing should be viewed with caution.
I don’t see how it helps. It puts Rosenstein, probably a never trumper, in the driver’s seat until a new AG is sworn in.
Establishment will drag that confirmation out til forever.
He can focus on drugs and immigration in dhs. Apparently the only two things he really cares about. And a more competent AG Cam be assigned. Also they can fire Mueller and investigate the democrats.
As long as Jeffie can seize anyone’s property at will he’s fine with it.
Congress not comes
Rumor also has it that the EPA chief, the former AG of Oklahoma could be moved into the DOJ without confirmation hearings since he has already been vetted.
Hotair.com posted the identical article this morning, only they attributed it to “anonymous sources” at Politico.
A whole lot of fake news going on, with them all quoting each other.

There’s never going to be a real recess in the Senate ever again. There will never be a recess appointment ever again.
Can he do that without having to go thru senate approval again ?
Then how long to apoint a new AG... We have got to go with what we have
Didn’t Sessions assign the investigator to the Debbie wasserman shultz/awan case recently.....The investigator is Debbie’s brother? Deep State.
It was explained to me that once a cabinet member, the POTUS can move them around at will.
