Polls taken by Independent Womens Voice, a free market group, find that 94 percent of voters think Congress shouldnt be exempted from the insurance provisions of ObamaCare. Most voters blame both parties equally for the exemption, which means Republicans will also be hurt politically if it stands.
The president should announce that he is instructing OPM to end the exemption and subsidies for Congress, IWV president Heather Higgins wrote in Mondays Wall Street Journal.
If the president does this, hed have huge negotiating leverage. He would align the interests of the ruling class with those of his voters, forcing Congress to act. He might even get some Democratic votes.

He’s already threatening to do this, do it Trump! Make these a-holes suffer like the rest of us.
It’s the quickest way to get them to fix it, and not by just pumping more money to the insurance companies
Lawmakers and their staff should have to buy insurance on the exchangesthe way the law requires.
They would have to by on the exchange...that would do it..
I have been tweeting this for days help me out...
Praying for our President to do the right thing. He must put Republicans in their place. Hope he knows we have his back. Prayer is powerful and if He will do The Lords will, nothing can stop him!
Set an August deadline for removing the exemption. Trump has to start following through on some of these threats. he is starting to look like a paper tiger. Not that this is a move without risk. It could mean declared war with congress but how much different would that be? Then there is the risk of McConell and Chuckie cooking up a really terrible bill and stick Trump with it putting the blame on Trump if he vetoes it. Has there ever been a POTUS facing this much betrayal from both parties?
Back in January he said he was putting the inishing touches on an Obamacare replacement plan that aims to provide “insurance for everybody.” Why doesn’t he use Congress’ failure to release his plan?
Ending the “friends and cronies” exemption will not help Trump. Because, it would not help the congressmen and senators, who fear losing at the polls.
To those senators and congresspeople, the number of staff members that will lose their exemptions, is a lot lower than the number of people who vote. So, with them, it’s a sacrifice that they’re willing to make, just so they can keep “their JOBS”. It’s not about doing the right thing for the country, it’s about doing what’s right for themselves.
ACA desperately requires participants, premiums and providers. The three Ps!
All those waivers Obama granted go away! Government, specific industries and unions!
Influx of three Ps will either make it work, or send it to hell.
Make the effective date of the END of the “small business” Congressional FRAUD JANUARY 1, 2018. Congress critters & their staffs would have to pick their poison (I.e., what brand of unsubsidized Obamacare they choose to be under starting January 2018) in the November 2017 Obamacare open season.
See how quick they move when they and their huge staff of thousands are faced with going under Obamacare on THE SAME TERMS AS THE REST OF US. They won’t enjoy seeing the potential end of their gravy train and special accommodations.
The way to do it would be to decide they’re all self-employed.
This move would most definitely help President Trump. It will expose CONGRESSIONAL HYPOCRACY and LIGHT A FIRE under Congressional butts. Don’t underestimate the power of this ACTION.
Trump is a deal maker, capische...
Who can find any speck of justice in a situation where the masters feel none of the pain they inflict on the subjects. How can this not be viewed as corruption? If President Trump does nothing about this, I will be very disappointed. The majority of the country and probably many Democrats would be happy about such an action.
I’ve been trying to think of something more insanely stupid than exempting lawmakers from the very laws they create, and quite frankly I’m stumped.
Exactly. The whole idea, if not the application, of ObamaCare waivers violates the equal protection clause, and politicians should never have the power to exempt themselves from the law.
