Hmmm. This is going to go well. Time to start growing your own tobacco. This will only make smokers smoke more. Good for tax dollars I guess.
And with the increased tension, anxiety, and anger that comes with withdrawal, this might just be the thing that triggers revolution.

Will they be reducing THC levels in pot, too?

Here's a solution (nicotine gum), but it rots teeth after a year of chewing:

WTF? This is why you should never give an inch, cause they will take a mile.
"On June 22, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (FSPTCA, also known as the tobacco control act) granting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authority to regulate tobacco products."

I’m glad we gave unelected bureaucrats the power to do this at their own personal whim.
To: fruser1
This will push users to e-cigs/vape which is even more regulated and more expensive. (Mileage may vary s/t state.)

2009 Of course. The two years that Obama had huge majorities in the House and Senate before Americans sacked them in 2010. This is the kind of crap they sat around doing.

So how many members of Congress and their staffers do you suppose took advantage of insider info? Inquiring minds want to know.

Tobacco stocks plummet as FDA plans cut to cigarette nicotine levelsWait, now- doesn't that mean that the addict will have to smoke more butts to satisfy the craving, resulting in increased sales? Shouldn't that increase the stock value?

WTF! The guy in charge at FDA is apparently a Trump appointee. Think about it, marijuana is going bonkers in this country while cigarettes and e-cigs are taking a hit.

You weren't supposed to notice that little detail. In other news, the chocolate ration will be raised from ten to five grammes!.

...regulatory plan to protect consumers that includes cutting nicotine levels in cigarettes to non-addictive levels. If that if accurate, the level would have to be zero.

How many short sales? I'd love to know the answer to that one. How does the Deep State make money? This is how.
To: fruser1
Remember when the firesafe cigs were mandated (2011). They would self extinguish if not puffed on. As a consequence folks smoked them faster. And consequently more of them.

You can grow it all you like, age it and shred it.. Then smoke it and you will quickly find out just how much other things tobacco companies add to tobacco when they make cigarettes.
You are ill informed if you think the modern cigarette is simply shredded dried tobacco rolled in paper with a filter.
To: fruser1
Cigarettes without nicotine will be no more popular than decaf coffee or non-alcoholic “beer.” Probably, less so.
