You say you want a revolution.... (credit: Beatles)
Local | July 28, 2017 | From The Deer Stand

After 7 years of Republicans voting to repeal and replace Obamacare, knowing Obama would veto their repeal, they boldly voted to do nothing as they control the House, Senate, and White House. Reminded me of the Beatles song and the 2018 congressional elections. I think the folks are restless. It'll be an interesting couple of years.

The people are “restless” you say? Any of the “man-on-the-street” interviews you see these days reveal a populace made up of a large number of clueless morons.

America’s death-spiral is tightening.

Yep you are right. The real revolution just took the next step last night. It is crystal clear how it plays out now: insurance companies are wasteful, only the government can do insurance properly. Private health companies are wasting government money. Privately paid doctors are greedy and undermining the public health system. The doctors are not being paid enough (1/10,000) of a Wall St banker. We must pay them more.......Food is getting scarce, the government must run food distribution.

Somewhere in there, fairly early on, is the heroic doctors getting shot by a gun nut whose wife was nixed by the death panel. Tragic for everyone of course, but we can't have all those guns in private hands.

Conservatives are eating their own. Look at the attacks on Levin here. Face it, the Republic is dead.

"America’s death-spiral is tightening." Well, don't see a death spiral. But things are'a changing for sure. I foresee the country evolving into semi-autonomous regions. In the not too distant future football will be banned. This will be the last straw for the southern and Midwest states, the Red L. They will not secede but will take Federalism and States Rights much further than has ever been done before. Health care, bathrooms, etc, just background noise compared to banning football 🤗....

from my tagline. Excerpt:

THE REVOLUTION WAS(Profound essay on the New Deal- LONG READ)
Roosevelt Myth ^ | 1938 | Garet Garrett

“...The revolution is behind them. It went by in the Night of Depression, singing songs to freedom....

PROBLEM FIVE WHAT TO DO WITH BUSINESS — WHETHER TO LIQUIDATE OR SHACKLE IT

There was a Director of the Budget who was not at heart a New Dealer. One day he brought to the President [FDR] the next annual budget...

At the end of his work the Director of the Budget had written a paragraph saying simply and yet in a positive manner that...the government had really no thought of going into competition with private enterprise.

Having lingered for some time over this paragraph the President said: “I’m not so sure we ought to say that.”

The Director of the Budget asked, “Why not, Mr. President?”

The President did not answer immediately, but one of his aides who had been listening said: “I’ll tell you why. Who knows that we shall not want to take over all business?”

The Director of the Budget looked at the President, and the President said: “Let’s leave it out.” And of course it was left out....

Business is in itself a power. In a free economic system it is an autonomous power, and generally hostile to any extension of government power. That is why a revolutionary party has to do something with it....

Always in business there will be a number, indeed, an astonishing number, who would sooner conform than resist, and besides these there will be always a few more who may be called the Quislings of capitalism. Neither Hitler nor Mussolini ever attempted to liquidate business. They only deprived it of its power and made it serve....

In his second annual message to Congress the President said: “In the past few months, as a result of our action, we have demanded of many citizens that they surrender certain licenses to do as they please in their business relationships; but we have asked this in exchange for the protection which the State can give against exploitation by their fellow men or by combinations of their fellow men.”

To be fair: Levin has spent plenty of time at the table chewing at fellow conservatives. This isn’t a one-way street.

>>Conservatives are eating their own. Look at the attacks on Levin here.

Levin earned the distrust he gets here during the election. He needs to win us back. It’s not our duty to just ignore the things he said last year now that he is paying lip, service to being with us on Trump.

>>Face it, the Republic is dead.

Yes, it is. The Peoples’ Democratic Republic of America is just waiting for the Boomers and Gen X’ers to get on Medicare and then America will happily march to its doom under the red banner. Time is on their side.

I agree that Levin was the enemy of the good last election. Cruz, or any other perfect candidate, would have lost bigly to Hillary. With Levin today, he is top notch when defending Trump against the deep state. Likewise with Levin's core philosophical message.

I think he might realize that Trump gives conservatives some breathing room, not the least of which is the conservative policies that Trump is implementing now. But it's not a lot of breathing room. Levin is not going to win with his followers. Trump is not going to win with his. We might slow down government growth with both working together to elect conservative candidates. But that will require Levin accepting Trump's style somewhat and it will require Trump to stop attacking conservatives like the Freedom Caucus.

“Semi-autonomous regions?” Are you joking? The government boot is going to press ever harder on ALL the people’s necks. Government-run “healthcare” can force EVERYONE to their knees.

You do what the Ruling Class tells you to do or you:

A. No longer receive government benefits.

B. You can no longer receive “healthcare.”

C. Your paycheck and/or property will be confiscated.

This is coming to America. 20 trillion dollars and climbing like a rocket debt + 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities make it inevitable.

The Free Market and the American Republic were great while they lasted.

I can agree with that. There are some things that are a down side with Trump. I'm not going to be "that guy" that cheers for everything Trump does...no matter how cringe-worthy it is. There are a LOT of things that libs think are cringe-worthy...that I think are awesome.

I think his boy-scout speech was great...and it would have been perfect had he omitted a few lines that just were not necessary to talk to the boy-scouts about. Take a minute out of that speech and it was perfect.

I mention that speech because I am here in Beckley, WV as part of the JTF. I was able to meet the President. It was truly one of the highlights of my military career.

I fear we are watching a coup before our eyes. CWII will then be right around the corner, within 5 years. You and I and millions will realize it doesn't matter anymore and will stay home...and/or go into open rebellion. And that may be OK in the end. It may be the only way to salvage this great nation is to start over...and it kills me to say that.

Yes, I do not see a way out. We could restore capitalism, grow, and pay off our debt. But we are not Sweden or England and our economy is too dependent on health care to grow and prosper with socialized medicine. Likewise the other forms of socialism will drag our economy backward.

Then the choices are default or inflation, Venezuela style. Rather than choose the latter I would ask Trump to default so we can do a reset sooner. He probably won't so our choices will be revolution or Venezuela. Our transition to Venezuela will be ensured by illegal aliens but lots of idiot Americans will vote for it.

“Conservative” means so many different things now but I agree that he should stop attacking those who are 80% on his side unless THEY make that 20% the whole issue. Then, he has no choice. Ideological purity is the road to run. We have to be pragmatic on the soft issues and firm on the hard ones.
