Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells bid to pass a stripped down repeal of Obamacare on a party-line vote failed dramatically in the early hours of Friday when Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., joined two other Republican holdouts and all the Democrats to vote against the measure.

I don’t get the comments here. The right vote is NO to any changes to Obamacare. Not our job to fix this fiasco. The right vote is TOTAL REPEAL. Go back to the day before Obamacare was passed. This government has absolutely no business in this issue. All I’ve been hearing for the past 8 years was REPEAL, REPEAL, when the eff did REPLACE become our mantra?
If he had a shred of dignity he would have resigned and let someone else finish his term. It is all about McCain and stabbing Repubs in the back.
“Can President Trump write an executive order for term limits?”
Comments like this worry me. I hope it was sarcastic.
If this was a serious question, I’m afraid you’re part of the problem. You need to spend some time learning how the federal government is designed, about separation of powers, and about the limits of the authority of the various actors. Reading and understanding the constitution would be a good start.
The president has essentially no authority to tell the congress how to run its business. He has no power to tell them how to vote, when to vote, what to vote on. He has no power over who serves in congress, or when or how they depart.
The president can call the congress into session. That’s about the limit of his power. If they don’t want to be in session, they can show up and immediately vote to adjourn themselves, and he can’t stop them. They could repeat this cycle for years if they felt like it.
The only real power over the congress is us, the voters. And we keep exercising our power badly.
No, no I don’t think the left has “more” blackmail on McCain - other than the facts we already know (5-time USN pilot crashes and plane losses, POW turncoat, reckless and womanizer, Keating Five bribes, etc.) What HE has is the immediate and constant ABCNNBCBS TV exposure that he thrives on and lives for. As long as McCain will fight Trump (or conservatives) HE will be sainted and kept in front of the TV cameras.
And THAT McCain lives for.
McCain did this as revenge because he is a main force behind the deep state.
Defective McCain defects. No surprise there.
... and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s that too or only that ...
So, why did you support this failure to repeal obamacare? Kindly remove me from your list of blame.
McCain moved across the aisle many years ago. He’s as Democrat as Democrat can be. In 2008 he played the part of the Washington Generals to Obama’s Harlem Globetrotters.
A total sham.
I’ve said for 20 years that all laws apply to all people, period. The application includes all politicians, lawyers, judges, and races. The exemptions for the important people and groups are simply too overwhelming to even keep track of, all of which rests with the lawyers that run every aspect of every government, including local, state, and federal.
I didn't support the failure of the single senatorial vote, but it makes perfect sense. All the senators have to show they voted against Obamacare except nearly dead or brain-dead senators. A couple of no votes are usually pretty easy to find. If McCain hadn't voted no, then maybe Graham, who knows, who cares. The fact is Americans are nostly too far gone to vote for anyone with freedom or capitalism as core principles.
Let me tell you where I am. If Obama and his bitch were arrested for the treasonous bastards we know they are, and conviction followed, I would personally pull the switch in the electric chairs. No charge.
