He says that like it’s a bad thing. Isn’t the elimination of pain the basis on which “ethicists” make all their solemn pronouncements such as abaortion being a good?

He believed that we exist to suffer. We dwell on the negative nature of happiness and well being rather than the positive nature of pain and suffering.

IOTW(eg) we are captivated by a ingrown toenail rather than how fantastic and healthy the rest of the body is acting.

So to answer your question, we can never eliminate pain(according to him) because that is what we live for.
