If you like your Coke Zero exactly the way it is now, it might be time to start stockpiling it.
On Wednesday, Coca-Cola announced plans to stop selling Coke Zero in the US in August, replacing it with a beverage with a different recipe, design, and name: Coke Zero Sugar.
"It is a reinvention of Coke Zero," CEO James Quincey said in a call with investors.

What about Diet Coke with Splenda?
Re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
Pepsi’s stock price has left Coke’s in the dust for years.
I know a fellow who works for kookie cola. Word is that Coke Zero is checmially identical to Diet Coke, and the name and packaging is simply marketing to make it appealing to a more masculine audience.
It’s worked so far.
I haven’t spoken to this fellow in a while, but...
My suspicion is that the C-C marketing people have looked at the success of the other companies products that are similarly marketed to a more masculine audience with the “10 calorie” small amount of sugar added. They wish to duplicate this, thinking that it will be a more successful formula for them. Whatever.
By the way - don’t stock up on diet sodas - the Aspartame eventually decays into Formaldehyde (it does this in your body, too), and after several weeks in storage, even in a cool location, it will taste very nasty.
Anyway, I think this is just a stupid move on their part. If they mess it up, I can always get a Dr. Pepper instead.
The real thing I’m curious about is why none of the companies have realized the marketing possibilities of doing 11 calories instead of 10 for their sodas.
Imagine: Mountain Dew 11 - This one goes to 11!!!!!
(hehe)
I like the ones in Asia 50 years ago. They seemed to have more “zing” or were stronger.
He lied to you. The difference in taste is significant.
Coke Zero does not (to me) leave an after taste. Diet Coke does. Coke Zero tastes more like regular Coke.
That sounds like a government non explanation.
Arrogant bastards... "New Coke" repeat debacle?
These studies have not found any health problems that are consistently linked with aspartame. Two studies published by a group of Italian researchers suggested that very high doses of aspartame might increase the risk of some blood-related cancers (leukemias and lymphomas) in rats.May 28, 2014

BINGO!
Me too.
Idiots!
You could, you know, actually do a blind taste test and you would immediately know it’s a lie.
Like others have said, Coke Zero tastes more like regular Coke and has very little aftertaste. Diet Coke is the most hideous diet pop on the market - I call it aftertaste in a can.
They really should just drop Diet Coke. It’s truly awful.
Ditto on that.
Coke Zero on ice tastes like the old Coke of 50 years ago. It doesn’t have the cloying sweetness of today’s regular coke. Diet Coke is nasty swill.
Coke Zero is the only cola I drink.
Another stupid marketing mistake.
BINGO AGAIN. I Agree 110%
I’m a Diet Pepsi man. But, Coke Zero became an acceptable alternative while I was travelling through Europe in 2010. It was everywhere.
I always thought Coke Zero had a slight citrus taste. Either way, it kicks ass over Diet Coke; which is a can-shaped mess of carbonation.
Aspartame causes cancer? So does sugar.
Well, the ones in the US 100 years ago had a great deal more "zing"; from about 1885 to 1929. Not that I can remember the taste that far back.
“Still has aspartame in it which causes cancer.”
Both the FDA and its European equivalent, the EFSA, disagree.
Coke Zero may be identical chemically but tastes nothing like Diet Coke. I don’t drink many sodas but when I do it was Diet Coke. Then Coke Zero came out. It is so much better than Diet Coke.
If they knew what caused cancer they could stop it. The “causes of cancer” are right up there with global warming statistics.

I agree. There’s no evidence that Aspartame causes cancer, or sugar.
