“The USS Thunderbolt was accompanied by the USS Vella Gulf, which is a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, and two other US Coast guard vessels at the time.”
We have US Coast Guard ships in the Mediterranean? Is this unusual?
I don’t think it is unusual. I wonder if it is because the Coast Guard is better trained at doing interdiction, boarding, searching and such. But I have heard we have had them over there.
Nope...they deploy everywhere....

Not unusual for USCG to be deployed in ‘action zones’..
I like the great writing...noted 2 USS’s and follow up with and two other USCG......
Go ahead, call me anal BUT if this crappy writing doesn’t get pointed out now and again, people forget what REAL writing is like.
Real unusual. Except there were USCG vessels and personnel in Viet Nam and almost all of those poor f*ckers I talked to were overjoyed when they got accepted into the Coast Guard so they wouldn’t have to go to Viet Nam.
