Ex-Obama Official Evelyn Farkas Urges Intel Community to Compromise Sources, Methods
Breitbart ^ | 07/25/17 | Aaron Klein

Evelyn Farkas, a former top Obama administration Defense Department official, has advocated for the intelligence community to consider compromising sources and methods when it comes to “saving American democracy.”

“And I know that we have to preserve our sources and methods,” Farkas said, speaking about the U.S. intelligence community. “But at some point you know, sometimes maybe you have to actually compromise some kind of source or method if it comes down to saving American democracy.”

Farkas was speaking last Thursday at a panel discussion on alleged Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election, and was talking specifically about the intelligence community’s work regarding alleged Russian meddling in U.S. affairs. The discussion, titled, “Active Measures: The Kremlin Plan to Beat the West without Firing a Shot,” took place at the Aspen Institute’s Security Forum.

Farkas served under the Obama administration as deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia until 2015.

Speaking at the Aspen Forum, she stated (emphasis added; remarks start at the 50:10 mark in the above video):

The intelligence community needs to get better at sharing information with the public and with our partners and allies. Declassifying things that we need urgently. Because I think part of the problem was that that report that came out, I mean, I was asked to comment on it on TV.

I wouldn’t always want the President to be like Trump, but right now, history demands it.

Nothing will be done about it.

Unless they succeed with their treason.

At that point, their coup will be short lived.

The US government would lose all legitimacy and collapse, the economy would collapse, the rule of law would break down, and it would be a free for all open season CWII bloodbath.

And spare me the constitution and military arguments. At that point, any and all government employee would be considered the enemy. Like I said, when a government loses its legitimacy, they become the tyrants.

Thank you. That was the first lie used to transform us from Freedom to State Servitude.

The intelligence community can say ANYTHING to a few members of congress (4 if I remember right). And can say ALMOST anything to a couple of committees which have proper security clearance. And members of those committees have said “there’s nothing there” in what they’ve been told while being willing to be anonymous source and seem willing to go to the press if it’ll damage Trump.

There’s no reason for the intelligence community to spill secrets to the world. They can go to the proper members of congress and say anything or almost anything. Then to the press about congress inaction (without secret details) if that doesn’t work. Then release minimal proof that will embarrass the target (Trump?), and congress, and the press. Calling on them to do anything else is ridiculous - the only reason to do it another way is an attempt to take down the president without evidence (treason?).
