Here we really have a chance to further the cause more so than any other recent time in history.
This is revealing that the establish Republicans have no interest in furthering the cause. They are quite happy with the status quo.
We saw the Tea Party movement go stagnant, as various segments got co-opted by not-so-Tea-Partyish types who basically shut it down.
The question has been for decades, and continues to be: can the Republican party be reformed from within [that is, through elections]? We have seen that the answer to that is 'No'. No matter how many Tea Party types and candidates running as staunch conservatives, once they get to DC, they turn into status quo defenders.
How many incumbents have we seen re-elected by the the divide-and-conquer strategy of running several 'opposition' candidates against the incumbent -- to water down the opposition and send the incumbent back to DC?
