Judge Says Charlie Gard’s Parents Can’t Take Him to U.S. Even Though He Was Given U.S. Residency

In the course of the hearing, British high court Justice Francis said their son cannot be moved to the United States for treatment without a court order, squashing hope that a move to grant him residency in the U.S. would help him, according to The Independent.

Earlier this week, U.S. Congressional leaders approved a measure to grant Charlie and his parents permanent residency status in an effort to make it easier for him to receive an experimental treatment. Pro-life Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Washington, led the effort; her daughter also was diagnosed with a fatal condition but survived because of an experimental treatment.

Charlie’s parents and his hospital are involved in an on-going legal battle over his medical care. The 11-month-old British infant suffers from a mitochondrial disease and brain damage.

I don’t really consider “costs” when talking about the possibility of saving a child’s life...

What would be your response if you were told it would be too expensive to try and save YOUR child’s life???

If you were told there isn’t enough money to try and save your child????

If it was one of my children I would want to move heaven and hell to try and save them. However, I am sure my medical insurance company would, at some point, make the same decision that the British health system is making.

I truly feel for this child and family. However, I want to know who is footing the bill if they come over here? It will take a lot of money to provide care for this child while he receives this experimental treatment. If a charity organization or private citizens have ponied up the money, great! If, as I suspect, it is the American taxpayer that will be footing the bill, then I have a problem.

Trump needs to forcefully publicly, tell the Judge to, “BLOODY SHUT UP! Charlie and his family are going with me, back to America!”

Storm the hospital. Hang the doctors. Storm the court. Hang the judges.

Problem solved.

The parents can be arrested upon return, and they already have done so in the past.

So you believe US taxpayer money should support all sick and dying children? Or only this particular case?

I think any means possible should be done if there’s a chance of saving the life of a child or an adult...

There are only few and extreme cases where insurance doesn’t pay, plus there are institutions such as St. Judes...

The parents and lil Charlie need a miracle. What if they take him off life support and by some possible miraculous way the baby survives without it? That would change the whole equation. it would be a step of faith for certain for whatever resulted afterwards.

But first they will have to take the child out of the hospital building.
He is probably under armed guard in his room.

We are a few years behind the EU in many things. What is happening to Charlie now will be happening to the US later.
(And this includes the muzzie situation).

Wait, what? When did England become a totalitarian state? Wow, did Sharia law take it over already? Islamo-Nazis can come and go as they please but not a kid whose life is in danger?

Make Charlie a US citizen and the UK cannot prevent him of being moved out the hospital.

They do that, and they will be arrested.

We have some that here, too (I’m not defending it in either instance).

For example, if a parent wants a second choice of cancer treatment for their child, they better not tell the oncologist about it. Just take the child and fly to Mexico without saying a thing. Because in this country, the hospital will file suit to gain custody of the child if the parent breathes a word questioning anything the oncologist proposes.

There are also posters in this forum who believe that parents who do not believe in vaccines (or even simply don’t like the aggressive schedule) should lose custody of their children.

In a free country, none of this should happen.
