Some of President Trump’s lawyers are exploring ways to limit or undercut special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation, building a case against what they allege are his conflicts of interest and discussing the president’s authority to grant pardons, according to people familiar with the effort.
Trump has asked his advisers about his power to pardon aides, family members and even himself in connection with the probe, according to one of those people. A second person said Trump’s lawyers have been discussing the president’s pardoning powers among themselves.
Trump’s legal team declined to comment on the issue. But one adviser said the president has simply expressed a curiosity in understanding the reach of his pardoning authority, as well as the limits of Mueller’s investigation.

I was referencing the letter from the Deputy AG giving Meuller the authority to be special counsel to investigate Trump and Russia.

Sessions needs to step up and fire Rosenstein and then put someone in the deputy slot who will focus Mueller or fire his @$$!

I remember someone I respect here say early on he needed to fire mueller and rosenstein right away because he couldn’t do it later. Legally he can do it...but he cant without it blowing up in his face

Do you have a citation for that? A Rosenstein quote? I only see what journalists have written about the direction.
I say let Mueller milk this cow as long as he wants to while Trump appoints a parallel investigation into real crimes by HRC/DNC and with all of their as yet un-prosecuted but proven crimes, who will make it to a grand jury first. He must show he is willing to fight fire with fire. Call it mutually assured political destruction at the very least. He has his businesses to return to, what does HRC/DWS/JP do if they are political outcasts?

They’re doing all they can to get Trump to fire Mueller. There must be a plan to use that to gin up impeachment. Instead, Sessions should do it. It is all his fault anyway. He can unrecuse, fire Mueller and Rosenstein for good measure.
