After a repeated series of false starts, Senate Republicans are meeting again Wednesday night in an attempt to bring their healthcare bill back from the dead.

The renewed attempt comes amid a flurry of mixed signals form leadership and whiplash-inducing shifts from President Donald Trump.

Trying to make it look like Trump didn’t lead, when the exact opposite is true. Btw, Fox also was playing this game today.

Fake News.

If the GOPe was serious about repealing Obamacare it would have been done in January. This is kabuki kommunism by the big government elites in both parties.

Lock them in the oldest military barracks/mess hall in the DC area until they agree.

I worry about the special deals like the Dems needed to do to pass O-care.

“Cornhusker Kickback” “Louisiana Purchase”

Whether D or R, politicians always have their hand out for something.

They need to hold an emergency meeting to remove Ryan and McConnell. Its obvious that the current “leadership” has failed.

But expecting the Repukes to muster up a little courage to do the right thing is a bridge too far.

I said from the start when I first heard “repeal and replace” that nothing would ever happen.

Repeal and Replace ... is COMPLETELY different than just repeal.

You will never get agreement on a replacement.

Most of the caucus is on board. There are about five senators who need to be persuaded. If it were up to me, I'd authorize Mitch McConnell to waterboard the holdouts, but that's just me. Since the dissidents are on both ends of the spectrum, there's not a lot of maneuvering room. If they were Democrats, bribery would do the trick, which is how Obamacare was passed to begin with. Since they're Republicans, persuasion is tougher.

Rand Paul probably thinks he'll run for president again, and running against the party is his ticket. If that means he ends up perpetuating Obamacare, he may not care. He'll just blame Obamacare on the Democrats and the failure to repeal it on Mitch McConnell and the 48 or 49 Republican Senators who actually vote for repeal. And he'll probably get away with it because that's how wingnuts and libertarians think. When everything can be turned into a ritual purity contest, actually getting anything done becomes secondary.

All of this, of course, is just to get to 51 votes for reconciliation, or 50 so Mike Pence can break the tie. We need ten more to break a filibuster.

Premiums have doubled and tripled. I am forced to buy coverage for government-mandated crap i don’t want.

Medicaid block grant reform is not my biggest worry and I hear Republicans crowing about it like that’s why everybody wanted Health Care reform to happen.

***Low prices*** and ***basic plans or catastrophic only*** if that’s what I want. That’s it. God i hate Republicans.

Then BUTT OUT.

The proposal will repeal . . . after several years of delay.

OBVIOUSLY they got some polling in, and it’s not pretty for the Senate. As some articles noted, the VAST MAJORITY of Republican voters are not blaming Trump, but are blaming the Republicans in Congress, particularly in the Senate...and they know what that means for them next year - Primary opponents, which is the last thing they want.

So we’ll see just how interested the Republicans in Congress are regarding holding their seats - my guess is that they’re very, very, interested, and they will come around - being that they simply cannot damage Trump, at least on this issue.

...and they’ll soon find out the same thing regarding the wall.

It's all part of the game unless the new plan takes away the billions of dollars of handouts and obscene profits to medical, insurance, pharmaceutical, and caregiver companies. The other thing.....very stiff fines and jail time for those who steal from health care.

Government interference is bleeding the nation to its demise. And none of the 535 swampthings we elect to DC seem interested in ending that.

They could reduce my premium to $1/month, and it wouldn’t make a bit of difference for me. What kills is the $5,000 deductible and the $10,000 annual out-of-pocket maximum.

I can’t afford to get sick and, if I do get sick, I can’t afford to go to the doctor. This is *not* insurance!

At this point, I say let’s shelve it. Obamacare is collapsing. Let it collapse to the point where the Democrats become willing to bend over.
