Trump says time to 'let ObamaCare fail' after health bill stalls
Fox News ^ | July 18, 2017 | Alex Pappas

President Trump said Tuesday he's prepared “let ObamaCare fail” after the collapse of Senate Republicans' latest health care bill, indicating he's willing to move on to tax reform and other issues – and deal with an Affordable Care Act fix down the road.

“I think we're probably in that position where we'll just let ObamaCare fail,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “We're not going to own it. I'm not going to own it. I can tell you the Republicans are not going to own it. We'll let ObamaCare fail, and then the Democrats are going to come to us."

He spoke after two more Republican senators came out late Monday against the Senate bill, effectively killing its chances in its current form. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., plans to call a vote on a bill to repeal ObamaCare now and replace it later, but on Tuesday afternoon left the door open to working with Democrats if that fails.

The White House focused its ire Tuesday on Democratic lawmakers, suggesting they'll regret their opposition.  "The failure of ObamaCare rests solely on the shoulder of the Democrats. They pushed it through, and they need to own the failure of it," Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

The President’s mistake was in trusting Turtle McConnell to get the job done. Ryan too, a loser trying to pretend he’s a leader. You ask me, we need to primary all the squishes. Give President Trump a Congress that will actually stand up for Conservative values!

What are the guiding principles here?

I don't think he has any guiding principles on this other than wanting a deal to sign.

Hello?
I’ve been saying this for years.
Got into quite a bit of trouble saying it here too.

Well now, again the Republicans kick the can down the raid past the mid term elections. If any one thinks otherwise they don’t understand the rules of the game.
I agree with let it fail, fund nothing, stop all taxes and mandates.
What I don’t agree with is the convenient way they kick the can. If they run on the same damn Obama care platform they better beg for more Conservatives to be elected to increase their majority anything shore of that you’ll see a repeat of kick the can.

Right now we are not going to have a failed Obamacare, we are going to have a patched and subsidized Obamacare FOREVER.

My thoughts too. "Let ObamaCare crash and burn"? Policies have already been skyrocketing each year. It has already been crashing and burning and no one is doing anything. It will just continue.

in his first state of the union speech, trump said that obamacare wouldn’t be addressed until late 2017 or early 2018, so i assumed that his intent was for the death spiral to do its work.

it was that piece of shit Paul Ryan that decided to push Hillary’s insurance company fix-it bill. Ryan was trying to undermine trump by doing that. Ryan figured it was no-win for trump, because the bill did NOT repeal obamacare and made it MORE expensive for trump’s core supporters should the bill have passed, and if the bill failed, Ryan figured trump would be blamed, not Congress.

Ryan was wrong: this whole thing blew up in the faces of the GOPe. No one is blaming trump, and everyone is blaming Congress, and Ryan’s “leadership” has been shown to be worse than useless.

I’m glad to see the situation reverting to the situation that trump originally stated in his SOTU speech. (My guess is that trump knew this was going to happen and he deliberately gave Ryan and McConnell enough rope to hang themselves with.)

>> If you are in charge of Congress and the White House....you own it.

> BULLSHIT!!

How is it bulls**t? We voted in a full GOP Congress majority and a GOP President. The GOP is to blame if they can’t get what they promised done. They HAVE A MAJORITY. They could get this done without one Democrat vote. And they aren’t doing it.

Let it die. Give states waivers to do their own thing. Don’t enforce the penalty. No subsides for insurance companies.

Yep. The DemocRATs touted it as a way to save costs on health care.
In fact: http://reason.com/blog/2016/12/16/obamacares-subsidies-to-cost-taxpayers-a

“Obamacare’s Subsidies to Cost Taxpayers an Extra $10 Billion in 2017
As premiums rise sharply, the public covers much of the cost.”

Paraphrasing Reagan on the national debt, Obama’s “Affordable Care act” is big enough to take care of itself.
It’s bad enough that the non-exempt (not Congress) are still having to give up bigger pieces of our pie so others (the subsidized) can have more.
No tax dollar life support to this monstrous `rat boondoggle! Let it stand or fall on its own. We’re just taking the `rats at their word that it would be sustainable. They named it.
Shirley even congress critters can say, “Nuh-nuh-nuh-no!”

Right, Trump played 9-D chess again.

Ryan had to go with Obamacare first, because the savings from reforming, replacing, whatevering ACA are needed to balance the tax reforms that are Ryan’s reason for waking in the morning.

By the way, if you think things are crazy now, wait until Trump wakes up one morning and decides to tweet Bannon’s idea for a tax increase on the rich.

I don’t know what is more pathetic. That we were and are stuck with this pathetic Obama care, or that our feckless and disgusting repukelicants; can’t put anything together to rid us of it.

How will it fail when they will keep funding it?
In other words it’s not going to fail as in it’s not going to end.
It needs to ends.

Trump had to try...either to eliminate it or change it to user-friendly. He campaigned on it. He promised it. And now, he’s made a tremendous effort in the face of great odds (both Democrat and Republican).

Now, he just needs to let it die the unholy death it was meant to have....and start fresh.

After listening to Jay Sekulow and his panel today, I learned a lot about the bill of goods that conservatives like, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, etc, have been selling us.

They said that the outright “repeal” that they are always advocating isn’t a repeal at all.

Obamacare would still remain on the books and be the law of the land for the foreseeable future. (They said about 2 years.)

So those of you here who think these conservatives are living up to their promise to repeal Obama care, they are not.

As Jay, Jordan, and the panel pointed out, they are not being completely honest with the American people.

They said that the only way to have undone much of the laws of Obamacare, would have been to pass the Senate bill, which would have overridden the current law.

I got quite an education on Obamacare today, and I learned that there is no such thing as an outright repeal of this crap.

"What are the guiding principles here?"

Trump must work “Trumpcare” within Congress’s limited Commerce Clause powers (1.8.3) as clarified by previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices.

So Trump must not only turn healthcare over to the states, unconstitutional Obamacare actually based on stolen state power and likewise stolen state revenues imo, state revenues stolen by means of unconstitutional federal taxes, but also consider the following.

Trump needs work with USAG Session to inventory all federal laws and regulations that deal with INTRAstate healthcare, and work with corrupt Congress to get rid of the laws and regulations that Congress cannot justify justify under its limited Commerce Clause powers, unconstitutional laws and regulations that lead to higher medical care prices.

After all that, if Trumpcare still needs new federal powers, then Trump must work with the states to see if they’d be willing to ratify a healthcare amendment to the Constitution, something that the Democratic-controlled Congress that passed unconstitutional Obamacare wrongly ignored doing.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Since corrupt Congress is the biggest part of the swamp imo, it is actually up to patriots to drain the swamp in the 2018 elections, patriots supporting Trump by electing as many new members of Congress as they can who will support Trump.

In the meanwhile, patriots need to make sure that there are plenty of Trump-supporting candidates on the primary ballots.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to make sure that candidates are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed above.

What are President Trump’s guiding principles?

Can you even describe to me what “his agenda” is when it comes to ObamaCare. Donald Trump — as both a candidate and as President — has been all over the map on this, with very little in the way of specifics.
