The Senate will defer consideration of the GOP healthcare plan that would partially repeal and replace Obamacare until Sen. John McCain returns to work following a procedure to remove a blood clot from above his left eye, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement late Saturday.
After wishing him a "speedy recovery," McConnell, R-Ky., added: "While John is recovering, the Senate will continue our work on legislative items and nominations, and will defer consideration of the Better Care Act."
About two hours earlier McCain's office revealed that he would be spending a week in his home state of Arizona recovering from the procedure he got on Friday.
Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix said the 80-year-old is now "resting comfortably at home and is in good condition," after a successful surgery.

WTFO? John McCain is sick so the entire Senate stands down?!
Maggie, I'm shocked. This is serious! So serious that Steve Scalise has raised from his hospital bed to play a small violin for Ol' Maverick.
Get well soon, John! Apparently everything grinds to a halt without your doddering incoherence.
The governor names a replacement until an election can be scheduled.
Bush tried that "power-sharing" tactic and it caused him nothing but trouble. He always had the votes for spending money whether he gave away offices or not.

I am, however, of the opinion that this awful law has to be clawed back bit by bit every chance we get, any chance we get. A slightly less awful obamacare is better than a fully awful obamacare and it gives conservatives motivation to finish the job once the waters in the swamp are finally low enough. DC got awful one bit at a time by people who were willing to take what they could get and hang on until they could gain more power. It will have to get less awful in the same manner.

(C) motivation? BWAHAHAHHAHAahahahah *gasp* ‘finish the job’ hahahahahaha....Please, please stop!!
I’d LOVE for someone to show me the ‘1/2 loaf’ theorem in practice w/ ‘(C)\(R)’ results. Seems to work great on the (D)\Socialist side of the equation though.
How’d that work out, 40 yrs ago, for Reagan? The border wall (pre-Trump)? DoEd? PP? NEA? Dreamers?
Then explain how the 1/2-loaf works while (R) pass their OWN Socialist h’care bill, gave us NSA, TSA, NCLB, Part-D, etc.
What makes 1 vote so important?
That is easy.
You need 50 votes to pass something. So we need 50 of 100.
The democrats are all sitting on their thumbs. They are automatic NO votes. That gets rid of 48 votes. That takes you to 2 votes !
So given that they need 50 of the 52 Republican votes, McCain is essential !
Unless you can get ONE democrat to cave.
“I truly wish Trump had taken the opportunity to offer the Democrat sen. from North Dakota”
Seems like a good strategy but I would not want a Rat running interior. Trump believes in delegation and wouldn’t want to turn Interior over to a Dem. What really burns me about this is McConell accommodating that traitor McCain when he should be censuring him for betrayal of Trump. The man fed a phony dossier to who knows who to destroy Trump.
He should be stripped of his Committees for starters.
Would they have done surgery if he was on the peasants plan, obamacare?
Looks like the GOP wants to keep Obamacare club members wink no change no reelection is the only answer.
McConnell will bring in some Paranormal Investigators to communicate with McCain's ghost so he can continue to cast UniParty votes from the beyond.
***McStain can choose to go to whichever doc he prefers- wherever he chooses. Unlike MANY folks stuck on 0CommieCare***
And yet the irony is lost on all these a holes.
Trumpcare. The Republicans chance to screw us over & ruin or healthcare.
Oh & thanks for the interstate competition on purchasing healthcare. Oh wait.
Ya mean mc ‘splain doesn’t go to one of those infamous Arizona VAs and wait in line like the hoi poli?
***Trump will get his Obamacare Fix bill. It wont fix much but he can check that box and move on to Tax Reform.
You heard it here first. Or possibly second or third or ...***
Two biggest disappointments since election:
1.Trump not draining the Swamp and supporting Ryan.
2.Sessions
Wait. Let me add one more. The continuation of using our military as a Petri dish of social experimentation such as, men & women showering together because as we all know, that’s so much more important than training our men to be warriors. I don’t see our CIC stopping that either.
You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!
So someone on Fox just said they are doing a biopsy. On a blood clot? A two inch blood clot? In the same general vicinity that a melanoma had been found in the past?
SOME ONE is spreading Fake news.
Say goodnight JUAN!
I don’t think Mr. Trump is too worried about it. If they don’t pass it the conservatives are going to be on their @SSSES next spring in primary season. And the system is going to fail.
There won’t be vote now until the Russian business is cleared
