Among the most frequent and, at least according to those on the left, credible critics of President Trump has been Preet Bharara, who was the most powerful federal prosecutor in the country until Trump fired him on March 10, along with 45 of his fellow US attorneys.
That credibility took a hit Thursday, when an appeals court vacated the conviction of former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Silvers conviction was supposed to be a major feather in Bhararas cap. Now his record of having convictions overturned will, deservedly, get more scrutiny.

The US supreme court effectively changed the law undercutting the conviction on a technicality.

Preet overreached. The legal standard he got the court to use was too broad and inconsistent with Supreme Court case law. He did the same thing in some high profile insider trading cases - got the court to use an overbroad and illegal definition.
If you get to make up your own law it's pretty easy to get convictions, but the appellate courts aren't letting him get away with it.

His parents naming him after the sound a parakeet makes probably screwed up Preet for life.

What parent would name their kid Preet? He is ethnically Indian (from India). The full name is Preetinder, Preet is a nickname.
It is a perfectly fine name in his parents' culture.

Yup. This would be like freeing Manson and his gals in '73 because of clerical errors.
