US President Donald Trump finally had some kind words for France on Thursday as he and his wife were given the red carpet treatment during their trip to Paris, although some Americans protested his presence in the French capital.
In the past, Trump has had some harsh words about France, saying it was no longer the country it once was and claiming it was at fault for the terror attacks it had suffered because it had allowed immigrants into the country.
Asked at a press conference at the Élysée Palace on Thursday if he still felt the same way, Trump was a little more complimentary about France and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. [ ]
This is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. You have a tough president, and hes going to be tough on people breaking the laws. I have a feeling you will have a peaceful and beautiful Paris and Im coming back, said Trump, who described ties between France and the US as unbreakable. [ ]
There was little sign of disagreement as their pair nodded approvingly at each others statements. Macron said the pairs dinner at the Eiffel Tower on Thursday evening would be a dinner of friends.

Please don’t remind me it was a French King that invented ties....
Macaroni gave him a WWI army rifle, only dropped twice.
Trump and Macron are meeting and sharing the stage together and hopefully it will help the popularity of the adult in the room, President Donald J. Trump.
Macron is a Uniparty, Corporatist elite banker, a despicable Globalist whose approach to terrorism make Inspector Jacques Clouseau look like General George S. Patton.
With international relations, there is no such thing as ‘unbreakable ties.’
The good news is that Trump is a good influence and Macron can only get better.
Macron might surprise you. He said some much-needed words about Africa. Said the Marshall Plan wouldn’t work with Africa because their culture is completely backwards.
Macron gifted Trump with a lace handkerchief and pointed out it could double as a flag of surrender. Kind of like the Swiss Army knife of France.
Macron also said the remarkable comment...fewer kids...meaning they need birth control more than aid. I think that shocked the social crowd.
He is correct. If you delivered good cheap birth control to the masses in Africa...within thirty years...a lot of the problems you see, would dry up and disappear.
One has to decode what Macron is saying IMHO.
The elites want to control overpopulation with abortion and so on while the African countries south of the Muslim regions have a lot of Christian religious activities going on.
Those Christian leaders don’t support Planned Parenthood type programs or gay marriage and so on, things that the Macrons of the world heartily endorse.
If Macron was opposing Islamization in speaking about “backwardness” in Africa, that’s one thing.
His critics and I am one point to his open borders approach as allowing Islamic backwardness to come on into France which would seem to contradict his words.
But if his comments were aimed at conservative religious views among Africans who are Christians, well I see a problem there.
Sangeresque POV, with all due respect.
Macaroni gave him a WWI army rifle, only dropped twice.

Who dropped it the second time?
Trump is setting the example, and now he is laying out the challenge to Macron to try and do the same.
We will see.
I watched the press conference and am cautiously optimistic. It seems we have a real president and our allies are falling in line.
The joke works better as: used french rifle. good as new. never fired. only dropped once.
