Since Dejuan Guillory died in an officer-involved shooting, questions have swirled about his criminal record.
In August 2015, he was arrested and accused of using a backhoe to steal an ATM from a bank, and of shooting at a police officer who came to investigate.
In December 2016, he pleaded no contest to simple criminal damage to property and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Half of that sentence was suspended, leaving a five-year sentence to serve, followed by five years of probation.
Evangeline Parish court records show that the five-year sentence was actually deferred.

This despite:
1. stealing a backhoe
2. using the backhoe to steal an ATM
3. seriously damaging a bank
4. shooting at police (not charged with this)
What are the folks on that set up this deal?
They gave him a get-out-of-jail free card for being a good boy... [ of sorts ]

He has shown such poor leadership skills that I would call him JELLYFISH John Bel Edwards for his lack of spine.
Maybe people should boycott coming to Louisiana -- tourist dollars are very important to Louisiana these days...
It is definitely a JUSTIFIED shooting -- as the Sheriff Deputy probably feared for his life (and rightly so!).
Like a lot of the state, it’s democratic locally and votes republican for president half the time. The Democrats are different there, they stay in power by being pro gun and anti abortion like bel Edwards.
