Nelson DeMille’s bestselling novel. Nightfall, opens on July 17, 1996, with a steamy encounter on a Long Island beach. The man and women involved decide to videotape their coupling. In the process, they inadvertently capture the destruction of TWA Flight 800. The novel centers around that video.
Through his many contacts with the NYPD/Joint Terrorism Task Force DeMille learned there was a real video out there. To the best of my knowledge, the FBI confiscated the original from the MSNBC studios in the early morning hours of July 18, 1996.
Although I have communicated with scores of people who saw the video when it briefly aired, I have only spoken to one who knows exactly what he saw. His name is Thomas Young. Here is his story:
In early August 1996, I was admitted to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Hong Kong for ten days with a back injury. My employer, Polar Air Cargo, flew my wife Barbara out to join me as our anniversary was in a few days, and I knew my wife would be worried sick with me being hospitalized in a foreign country.We had little else to do but watch TV as I was in traction for most of the hospital stay. From the first day of being admitted to the hospital until the morning I was discharged from the hospital and boarded a flight for San Francisco, I witnessed a devastating video of a missile launch recorded by an unknown Long Island, NY resident.
The video was re-played every 15 minutes (24/7) on the local English-language, Cantonese-, and Mandarin-language television stations. It was recorded on July 17, 1996.

after working with folks from that and other high profile recovery efforts I am of the belief that the dead should be left to their fates. What recovery does to the minds of the people who work it, is not worth the getting of the parts and mini-parts.
That said, I recall the tape and watched it on television.
Ten days LATER? By then the FBI TWA 800 investigation was already set. How could something that happened later have affected this?

Can’t believe it’s over 20 years. Too many of my Long Island neighbors saw this and the story was all the same. A missile went up.....flight 800 came down. Even Jim Kalstrom convinced Rush that it was a wiring fault. So much BS during the Clinton regime.

Ah, well. Such is life. I was told some very specific information from a person whom I know was in a position to know it, and so long as this person's career or continued freedom might be in jeopardy, I can't mention the specifics of what I know.
I find it very frustrating because I believe this information needs to get out, but I have no idea how to make that happen without causing problems for the person who informed me of it.

Within hours of the crash of TWA Flight 800 off the Long Island coast on July 17, 1996, the FBI seized control of the investigation from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Although illegal, this was done in full view of an indifferent media.What the media did not see was the CIA’s illegal seizure of the investigation from both the NTSB and FBI. We know about this quiet coup now thanks to a treasure trove of CIA documents recently unearthed through the Freedom of Information Act separately by attorney John Clarke and physicist Tom Stalcup.
In a July 30, 1996, internal CIA memo, headlined “Hold the Press,” a CIA analyst warned his unnamed superior of an impending FBI report on a likely missile strike. This was less than two weeks after the July 17 crash.
After interviewing 144 witnesses, the FBI missile team insisted there was a “high probability” that a surface-to-air missile destroyed the airplane. According to the FBI report, the evidence was “overwhelming.” The witnesses were “excellent” and their testimony “too consistent” for the cause to be anything other than a missile.
From the beginning, the CIA’s job was to make all talk of missiles go away. Less than two weeks after the crash, the CIA analyst boasted to his superior of how he discouraged the FBI from pursuing the missile angle. In fact, the FBI did not go public with this report at the time even though it had “only minor corrections left to make,” and the CIA made sure it never would.
According to Cashill, the "July 30, 1996, internal CIA memo" is written three days after the Centennial Olympic Park bombing. At this point, according to the memo, the FBI is leaning towards a finding of a missile strike.

My uncle was a senior mechanic for TWA at JFK at the time. He says no way was it the center fuel tank and has some interesting observations about what went on. He believes there has been a massive coverup.

Cashill’s book “TWA 800” does a great job of collecting the information around the tragedy and assembling into what looks like the real story - another time the FBI was manipulated by a president to cover up misdoing (beside Obama’s subversion to protect Hillary that is).....
Curious to find out who was on the passenger list
Cashill’s work deciphering Obama’s literary career is pretty insightful too. I wasn’t aware that he had done any work on this.
It’s curious:nobody claimed credit for TW 800. Sensational media coverage is crucial to terrorism.
I recall that some Dems cooked up a conspiracy theory that G.W.Bush bombed the Trade Center. I can’t help but wonder if the current allegations against Trump, which I’m pretty confident are intended to protect Obama and Hill against scrutiny, are out of a Dem playbook— one they’ve relied on before.
I wonder if the tactic we see today—preemptively accuse the investigator or opposition of the crime you’re guilty of—was behind the conspiracy allegations against Bush. One might reasonably deduce that the Dems were muddying the water over something. The question would be: what were they diverting attention from?
It’s a reach, no doubt, but the conspiracy nut inside me can’t help but wonder.
TWA 800 was without doubt brought down by a missile. The only open question is who fired it.
