Hoping John checks-in soon to fix it, but it seems to load pages better right now with preferences set to 20: http://freerepublic.com/perl/settings
Sorry.
OK!
I had to set both Pagination and Browsing to 20 to get it to work.
When all else fails, here’s a direct link to the breaking news sidebar:

And frontpage:

Setting to 20 only worked for certain threads, for me, unfortunately.
Will take a break from FR...this is too frustrating :(
Yuh gotta remember to feed the hamsters!
Probably because the default preferences for logged out users is 20.
Fixes problem when I clear my browsing history. But I have to do it every time I go to a new thread. Big hassle.
Me too,was excited then couldn’t post.
I’m using your IP address suggestion.
It has sped up my browsing remarkably.
Pages across the forum load almost instantly. Posting responses takes place almost instantaneously. The whole session on F.R. seems to benefit significantly.
You do have to sign in again each time you come to F.R. using it, but the gain is well worth the effort.
Folks. Use TangoLimaSierra’s suggestion.
Please see my post #29.
This really seems to help.
Thanks goes out to TangoLimaSierra for the suggestion.
How did you come up with that particular IP addy? Just curious. TIA.
We could optimize the HTML output to reduce the load on the server and perhaps in the process bring it properly in line with the HTML5 specification.
You can get a site’s ip address here: https://www.site24x7.com/find-ip-address-of-web-site.html
Mine seems to work better by using the IP addy: 209.157.64.201

No having to do name resolution dramatically speeds up the site load times...
Thanks for having it looked at, Jim.
Now you've done it.
I can change to 20 articles but it won’t let me change to 20 replies. Weird.
Whew! I thought I was gonna get rickrolled there for a sec.
