Human teleportation brings up MASSIVE problems such as:
Teleportation is breaking one down to quanta - that is killing you — then sending those quanta elsewhere. Are you dead and a copy of you now revived? Does your soul follow?
Worse — why not just repeat the reproduction side endlessly? There could be millions of perfect clones of you. And if you did do any have a soul?
This isn’t as bad as the “does Data have a soul” question but it is a valid line of questioning.
i always had this exact problem with people dying on Star Trek. Wouldn’t a person’s most recent “pattern” be stored in the Enterprise computer? Why wouldn’t they just recreate him from that pattern?
Great question. My opinion is that teleportation of man is academic as man will never be able to do it - ever. We will kill each other off or some muslim will blow up the Earth before that could ever happen.
By soul ... do you mean spirit - the part of you that leaves your dead body and goes to heaven and lives forever? If so man can not create spirit. Man will never be able to create spirit.
which raises an interesting academic question - what does a duplicated man act like with no soul?
Lots of use, lol
That’s what I thought when this was first discussed as possibility years ago. It may not actually be you that gets teleported, but a copy that is you in every way, but the original you was essentially vaporized (for lack of a better word) and destroyed. You would be dead, but a duplicated you would indeed think it is you and would be “you” to everyone else, but you are actually gone.
This would only really work for moving equipment, food, and supplies if it could even work at all...not for moving living beings.
Does an AMC Pacer have a soul?
