Well there is the possibility that it will give “mittens” something to do. Kinda like a cat and a laser pointer.

To: SMGFan
I say go for it. Trump is a showman and if the LA olympics happen under him, it will be the greatest olympics ever.

Can’t disagree but if (operative word “if”) the US wanted to host a summer Olympics, LA has the bulk of the infrastructure in place, particularly with regard to the major stadiums.

If an Olympiad could bring in money, jobs etc then great but often it turns out to be budget busters in the tradition of Boston's Big Dig; waste, fraud, corruption, inconvenience, nepotism, you name it. The Obamas flew overseas to get the Olympics for Chicago. It failed--in the first round. "Chicago is OUT?!?!?" said an amazed CNN anchor (clips on youtube). Boston lost out on the Olympics. Good news as it would cripple the economy, be a major inconvenience, etc. Cities around the world get the Olympics but soon the arenas etc put up turn into money pits then eyesores with no business.

He wouldnt be mentioning it unless it were already a done deal. Like he wouldn't be mentioning the impenetrable cyber squad with Russia if it wasn't a done deal? The President tweets whatever is on his mind at the moment. As for the Olympics, it's down to LA and Paris. Paris will probably get it.

Super. Suggest a new event so that some locals can participate. The Drive-By-Athalon.

1)Infrastructure in place? Maybe it COULD work
2)If it turns out to be a major inconvenience for Hollyweird celebrities I’m all for it
